The crows don't avoid me but they don't pay any attention to me either. The squirrels have to be getting fed by neighbors because they'll come up close enough for pets. I haven't tried petting them but it's fun to try conversing with the squirrels as they sit at my feet likely waiting for treats. Perhaps it's on me to attempt a murder by offering food to the corvids?

The crows and squirrels are in a non aggression stance of sorts. Sadly the sciurus council and the corvus group can only get along due to their treety and don't involve themselves when one group claims a human.

Crows are tricky. I was only able to do it twice. The first one was pure luck, I helped one out that got knocked out by a car and fell into a puddle. Kept her for about 5 hours and released her. After that a group of crows would follow me to the bus stop and to the corner store. The second time was when my home office was overlooking a large flat portion of rooftop so I was able to feed them daily at specific times, and sit by the window all day until they got to know me as the 7AM walnut guy.

Try peanuts in the shell. Find a spot near the house they hang out, toss them out there. They'll fly away as you approach, but they'll come back and check. Eventually, they'll figure out you are giving them food they like, and they'll start hanging out in your backyard, staring into your windows, trying to guilt you into more food.

Some have said coat them with cayenne powder to keep the squirrels away but all I've seen are redneck squirrels complaining it's not hot enough
