lmao. This dipshit fully sees the problem of capitalism and thinks the solution is more capitalism. It'll always end the same way
kirmokum
the craziest part of all this is he still thinks the solution is private insurance. to know what he knows and to have the experiences he's experienced and still suckle that boot is pathological.
psmith00
just another victim of end stage Capitalism.
yeahhedugit
Not broken up, eliminated in favor of Medicare for all.
tinyfootprints
My total medical expenses were lower in the years that I didn't have insurance, including 2012, when I paid $8K for a cholecystectomy. If I had had insurance, my copay would have been that high. US hospitals typically offer steep discounts to the uninsured. And I have never not paid a medical bill.
brrrackobama
Private for-profit health insurance is peak evil capitalism, period. It should be 100% illegal.
SomeFukinWizard
Stop paying them. Stop paying your insurance. Cancel it from your work. if you pay for it personally cancel it. The beast will never change unless we starve it.
PlankTableGo
This guy can fuck off with "competition in the industry". Healthcare shouldn't be a fucking business.
Lardzor
There should be a municipal or government options run as a non-profit.

Retired internist here. UnitedHealth with billions of profit with a 32% denial rate? One of the reasons I’m a retired internist here.
Whoisthisdoctorwho2000
1/2 In medicine you are taught to diagnose the problem, treat the problem and evaluate the response and side effects. If for example the problem was rampant greed you might isolate someone infected with rampant greed, treat them with lead injections and evaluate the effect on the malignant greed and any side effects.
Whoisthisdoctorwho2000
2/2 as luck would have it we have the benefit of a real world experiment to examine. The result was that an i surance company immediately back peddled a heinous decision and the side effects were that 1 man established an anti-greed culture and a couple.of teenagers died about their dad, those kids represented about 0.001 percent of teenagers that cried as a result of their dads choices and so were statistically irrelevant... now to up the dose.

There are assholes in every country who want to emulate the US for profit system.
Every one of them should be imprisoned.

In capitalism only capital has value -- not education, not culture, and certainly not humanity!

They are forgetting CVS also owns Aetna and Aetna is the insurance provided to employees. https://www.cvshealth.com/services/health-insurance.html

The Sherman anti-trust act usually gets the highlight in discussions abt anti-trust issues. This time it’s the Clayton anti-trust act!
There are already laws against the shit these fuckheads have been doing. They need to be amended to allow for jail time in more instances and be more strictly enforced.
thanatos777
Jesus fucking Christ, I fucking hate Democrats. Could you *POSSIBLY* dream any smaller than tearing down the whole system only to rebuild it basically the same but with a few minor tweaks? For fuck's sake, every other industrialized country in the fucking world has universal coverage, most of them have single-payer, and it works better everywhere but fucking here, and the best you can fucking imagine is a restructuring of the model for private insurance? Get fucked you corporate fucking whore.
DaffydeDick
Despite claiming to have solutions, Republicans repeatedly failed to pass a viable replacement for the Affordable Care Act. Furthermore, they consistently voted to block or sunset the critical premium subsidies that millions of Americans rely on, driving up healthcare costs and leaving families with fewer affordable coverage options.
WaxedApple
Saying the democrats are trash is not an expression of support for republicans
thanatos777
Republicans: We want you to die in the streets because you can't afford healthcare.
Democrats: We want to marginally slow down the rate at which the number of you dying in the streets because you can't afford healthcare is increasing.

Americans are literally waiting to die.

That's why Trump is making so much money.

...and - to a certain percentage - defending this shit.
Sphinctergoatface
I've known this for years which is why I haven't been to a doctor in over a decade. When I eventually get too sick to do anything, I plan on dying alone in my house. I'm in my mid 30s so I might still have some time, but this is reality for quite a few if us.
Eyeetsass
Everyone with an annual income under 100k lives this way. We are an extreme majority. We are legion.
OldNternetWizard43
Hey, guess what a legion with nothing left to lose can accomplish? Anything it wants.
Time to demand it like a Karen.

Thank you, Dr Murphy, for you lip-service and performative outrage. Now, kindly go fuck yourself.

Consequences. Without consequences people do what they want. C-suite cunts will kill everyone to become wealthier and wealthier. Nothing is enough to satisfy them. So there have to be HARSH consequences for their behavior. Not just breaking up these criminal organizations, but going over every penny they "earned" and then prosecuting them for any and all discrepancies. I don't care if they jaywalked in 1997, go through their lives with a fine tooth comb and persecute them for everything.

HandoB4Javert
AtmaDarkwolf
nah, all u gotta do is say stuff like 'shame on you, your killing people for money' and they will see the error of their ways and suddenly about-face and become good people.
Whitebeardthepirate
@CallMeMcGyver except we live in a world where you bring that up, and people always subterfuge: "Well? You do something about it then"
MassiveCollisionY
Speaking up is doing something. Most people don't have the power to make a sweeping change and that is by design because they shouldn't. But that means we need to make sure enough people are done with their bullshit that action is inevitable, whatever form that takes. Every voice matters in that case, speak up.
Whitebeardthepirate
if that's the case, why hasn't the repeated no kings protests done anything? and don't say "well it takes time" time is something none of you have left.
Eyeetsass
We need the complete destruction of the health insurance racket. We need universal health care. After prosecuting MAGA it needs to be our highest priority.
SavageDrums
Then... Every other industry in the fucking world.
k1darkknight
Fair enough. But even before prosecuting MAGA, we need to reform the courts, or the prosecutions won't stick.
We need at LEAST 13 SC Justices, to match the number of district courts. The last time the Court expanded, was when they added a ninth district court. Since then, they've added four more districts, but no additional Justices.
Eyeetsass
The courts do need reformed. We need a progressive to use the executive power that is built into the presidency to make progressive changes such as ranked choice voting, and then we need that same progressive to destroy all the powers of the office, so that a new president can’t just uno reverse it all. Finding the person willing to do all of that will be exceedingly difficult.
k1darkknight
Except that the President shouldn't be implementing ANYTHING related to voting, other than restoring basically everything to the states. The President could certainly urge states to adopt ranked-choice voting and/or open primaries, but should not try to mandate such on their own.
A progressive admin SHOULD roll back at least 95% of this one's changes (there HAS been a "stopped clock" moment or two), but they should STOP this whole "pendulum swing" dynamic, before the pendulum simply BREAKS.
k1darkknight
Ideally, they should go even further. I think it should be three Justices for each district, with routine decisions decided by one Justice for each district, on somensort of rotation. Then major decisions would be heard by the full, 39 member court.
Yes, unanimous decisions would be extremely rare. But so would highly politicized decisions. The smaller the court, the easier it is to unbalance it.
