Mother's Day dinner for my wife. She was very specific and I definitely delivered!

May 14, 2017 11:24 PM

She wanted steak, a baked potato and grilled asparagus

I got a great deal on ny strips so I went with those. I pulled them out of the fridge 30 minutes before I put them on the grill. Rinsed them off and patted dry. Next I rubbed extra virgin olive oil evenly over the entire steak.

Next I added a liberal amount of salt. Enough to coat it. Then just a pinch of pepper.

Added 3 tablespoons of olive oil to 1 clove of garlic and mixed well in a bowl. Poured it on the asparagus and tossed them to evenly coat. Added salt and pepper and tossed again.

Using my smoker but cooking with my charcoal basket.

All heated up and ready to roll

Came out amazing! She already grabbed her plate and is now chowing down!

Hope you enjoyed

Kinda weird that your mother is your wife

You need to add garlic and some Tony Chachere's creole seasoning. You're welcome.

You've done well, Sir. Now tonight, seal the deal, whatever you gotta do, don't let us down, 4th quarter, last lap, go hard and think of us.

I literally just had this dinner myself. Except cast iron seared. No grill.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's what I got for mother's day :) except it was salad instead of asparagus. My husband is awesome :)

I can imagine, I've had steak maybe once in the last decade and this post is making me consider upping that score. Was itas good asit looks?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was fantastic! She actually ate the whole steak, which I have never seen he do!

What kind of bird laid that blue egg in your yard?

A robin on acid?

Who doesn't want steak, a baked potato, and grilled asparagus?

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I had wagyu beef, truffle aioli roasted potatoes and shisito peppers. But we paid someone to make it for us

If I worked an extra 12 hrs on top of my 54 I could afford to watch a video of that meal...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll record it if it ever happens again. Yesterday happened to be our anniversary so it was a splurge. I would eat your dinner gladly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm glad I was able to provide such a great meal to the mother of our children. Maybe one day I will get my hands on such glorious beef

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I recommend it! And kudos on cooking for your wife. My husband can make scrambled eggs and grilled cheese. Not a gourmet meal in the least.

Agreed

I'd be interested in talking recipes.

Same here. I love learning new recipes and sharing my discoveries

Your lack of sour cream disappoints me.

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 3

We smothered it with real butter. We like it both ways but we didn't have any unfortunately.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Butter > Sour cream. Good job OP, you fucking nailed it. I always appreciate a well bbq'd steak.

Little bit of lemon on the asparagus goes a long way too. Well done on the meal and on a wife with good taste.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I prefer to dip my grilled asparagus into olive oil and balsamic, it's amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooo I'll try that! Thanks

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are herby forgiven.

Can your see right into your neighbour's yard?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately yes. But it's a 5 bedroom house we are renting so it balances out

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love to make this exact meal, except I bake the asparagus and pan sear the steak. Looks like it turned out hella good for you as well!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was amazing and I got praised for a job well done!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A strong high five to thee, my fellow steak-asparagus-and-potato-mate!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funny thing is, the plat in the photo was mine. Wife grabbed hers and went right to town! Planning on smoking beef next weekend. Will post

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That should be a very good meal as well. I hopefully will learn how to properly grill steak soon

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its a dynamic process. Once you get it down You can turn bargain meat into a work of art. I've messed up meals a lot but learning is fun

One clove of garlic? One?
