People Just Helping the U.S. Fascist Government Get Their Point Across

Aug 29, 2026 3:17 PM

The Actual DOL Post: On January 10, 2026, the Department of Labor shared a post on X featuring text ("One Homeland. One People. One Heritage. Remember who you are, American.") alongside a short video of a George Washington bust and historical American art. Critics and historians heavily criticized the text for closely echoing a translation of a Nazi-era nationalist slogan (Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer).

The Coin Image: The image of a historical coin/medal bearing the German phrasing was later added by commenters, quote-posters, or compiled into side-by-side screenshots by social media users to highlight the parallel. The U.S. Department of Labor's original post did not contain the coin or any swastika symbol.

"The U.S. Department of Labor's original post did not contain the coin or any swastika symbol."

But not because they didn't want to.

A bit point of America and American History is that we are NOT "one people". We are quite very specifically many people that have come together to make something better.

Melting Pot and all that...

#1 to be clear, that’s not a translation of what’s on the coin. It’s still blatant ethnic nationalism though.

fuck is this 'one heritage' shit?

half my family arrived via boat ca 1900 and ended up in Minnesota since that's where Finland peeps immigrated to.

we all can't cosplay 18th century powdered wig and silk breeches shit. We're a lot more complex than that.

Ballsy of them to use George Washington. He would kill them on the spot for being traitors to their nation. But then again, these morons don't learn the good parts of history.

Fascists want to erase "E pluribus unum" the traditional motto of the United States, approved by Congress, in 1782. Remember we are ONE nation - from many diverse and different peoples, cultures, languages and THAT is our strength.

And absolutely DO NOT discuss what firearms you may or may not have over publicly visible social media platforms. Feel free to advocate for firearm safety education & don't hesitate to make suggestions/recommendations for or against specific guns. But do not ever volunteer information that would give the current regime a reason to target you.

In the 1930s, the pro-Reich German-American Bund ran propaganda and rallies full of American iconography, including imagery if our Founding Fathers to paint Naziism as American patriotism. It's happening again.

One heritage? Which one, british, irish, italian, german, mexican, spanish, cherokee?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The coin German is not like the English. The German is "one people, one empire, one leader" and I feel like calling it "similar" is not just a mistake but a lie. I speak both languages (one is my family's, one is my country's) and they don't sound the same to me.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It absolutely does sound the same to little German me. Not word for word obv, but the cadence and the meaning are pretty close

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it's pushing the same propaganda buttons in the brain

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When I was growing up, it was the "Great American Melting Pot." There is no "one heritage", we've always been a melange of cultures. This is gaslighting, racism, and rewriting history.

1 week ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

Not gaslighting, but definitely racist and rewriting history, and also incredibly stupid.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every time I see someone spouting off forcing immigrants to conform to “American culture” online I challenge them to define what that means and they can’t actually respond. Because American culture is the culture of accepting immigrants and changing to accommodate what they bring to the table.

Everything about our culture, food, our music, our art, it’s all a blending of the different cultures

1 week ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

For as long as the US has existed as a nation, there has been heavy discrimination against those that are defined as "others". Native Americans, Blacks, Latinos, Italians, Spanish, Germans, Catholics, Jews, Chinese, Japanese, etc. The blending happened in spite of all of this, but always against heavy resistance by the establishment. It would be far more accurate to describe American culture as the violent rejection of newcomers and "others", as pulling the ladder up behind you.

Of course I realize that most of the time I’m just reply to bots and increasing interactions on posts made by bots to help boost the signal of those crappy bots.

I hate living in a crappy cyberpunk dystopia

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not a bot, but sometimes you just gotta vent a little, with everything that's going on, even if sometimes it is ragebait.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no, I rarely find myself arguing at bots on Imgur. I think it’s because the site doesn’t lend itself to a bunch of different echo chambers, just the one big one of our own making.

Most of those arguments at bots are on Facebook

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Btw thats not what the coin says... "Ein Volk" one people - "Ein Reich" an empire - "Ein Führer" one leader. Intrestingly nothing about heritage

1 week ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 9

Nothing about homeland either. Fuck trump but saying it echoes a Nazi slogan is a big fucking lie

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

The point with this type of thing is that it simultaneously makes the far right go hell yeah cause they recognize the meaning, and gives them deniability towards others. If you call it out, you will face a defense of "actually it's not quite the nazi thing", which deflects the accusation and derails it into an argument about the meaning even though it's perfectly clear to its intended audience. See also, Musk's salute, various swastika variants, etc.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Close enough that no other American President - in either party - would even considered using it.

However, the term homeland (Heimatland) has very strong nazi connotations. The movie poster below is from an anti-Polish nazi propaganda film. It's a term that was rarely ever used in English, especially not in politics, until 9/11. I've always found the "department of homeland security" to be a huge red flag.

1 week ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

True but "Vaterland" fatherland was more common. As a short version of the above (and with the alliteration, it also sounds better !!! Not saying i like the message, just linguisticly speaking!!!) was "Für Volk, Führer (und) Vaterland" For the people, leader (and) fatherland". Also it was the contrast to the sovjet "motherland" and well... man are soldiers, woman only lmake soldiers... man>woman... all that propaganda shit

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, Vaterland was the most commonly used term for Germany proper. Heimatland went beyond that and included regions such as the Wartheland (Okręg Warcki in Polish). Any place with a German presence became the homeland of the German settlers. And when it (allegedly) came to quarrels between the German and Polish populations, of course they had to defend their homeland and displace the local Poles with a little help of the fatherland's military might.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ohhh and also another propaganda trick, while in reality everything was done for the Führer, the people get mentioned first like the are more important *cough*

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The post isn't claiming it is. It's clearly pointing out how *incredibly similar* the Department of Labor post is to a famous Nazi slogan.

"Reich" meant empire in the past, but post WW1 and with the rise of nationalism it was meant to denote a difference between a nation and an assemblage of states.

And yes "one leader" doesn't have anything to do with heritage, but you know what does? One volk, and one reich.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

EDIT: By all means, find me another slogan that uses "one [noun], one [noun], one [noun]" since Nazi Germany. You're going to struggle, because that is an *extremely* famous phrase. Not to mention this is hardly the first time they've used almost explicitly fascist/Nazi rhetoric ("poisoning the blood our people", etc) so I'm not sure why you're giving them the benefit of the doubt.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One planet. One health. One future.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One Bourbon, one Scotch, one Beer. :) Not trying to give them the benefit of any doubt though.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You added one little detail, but OP already said that the post by the DOL was an "echo" of the slogan, not the actual thing.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I just translated what is written on that coin. If you don't care, fine. But some people might be curious and OP didn't offer this information.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I appreciate that you gave the translation

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If deeply saddens me how much folks seem to think they can bare-minimum their way out of Fascism. They're telling you outright what they are GOING to do, and people just keep hand waving it away. The laws will not save you. The Military will not save you. The Dems will not save you. Prepare as best you can or flee. But ignoring the Meteor will not make it go away.

1 week ago | Likes 152 Dislikes 7

If people actually cared, Twitter would be a ghost town. However all we're getting from that idea are "I don't like Nazis either but-" excuses.

“Braindead” a tv series where alien ants crawl into politicians ears, eat 1/2 their brains, and take control of them and their power in order to destroy humanity from within.

That came out before chump was in.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What gets me is the number of morons on Imgur who will call Republicans literal Nazis and then turn around in the next thread to brosplain how the Democrats just haven't earned their vote because of reasons and further mores.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fair. But those typically are "fair weather" folks in the first place. I voted for Kamala not because I wanted to, but because I fuggen HAD to.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree and I’ve gotten downvoted for saying it. The only way out of this mess is violence.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

my hot take is initiating violence won't make the situation any better, any more than what Hamas did Oct 2023 improved their position wrt Israelis.

then again it could be argued Israel's continued genocidal military operations and unrestrained abuse in the West Bank has shifted the optics somewhat, but that's come at one helluva price.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you're like the people I've downvoted for sharing similar ideas, that wasn't what did it. It takes a bundled "pfft these protests are pointless," or maybe a "you really think anything that happens in court will matter?" or even a "what's the point of voting?"

I see a lot of people mix those messages together, and that's dumb as fuck. As though things would ever escalate to revolution or consequences without those intermediary steps and efforts.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes, most adults are not willing to commit violence against another human. Surveys with soldiers have shown that most are not willing to shoot another soldier and instead aim to miss.

Soldiers need people who provide resources and housing. There are a lot more willing to do that

On a personal level, my immediate family and I vote and donate, but we chose to leave the US because we are not willing to kill, but refuse to become casualties in the cross fire

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Honestly? Good for you. If you had an avenue to leave for somewhere safer, that was the right call. I'm glad you and yours got out.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't talk about that shit on social media though, unless you want yourself and everyone you care about on the "fuck it, these people don't have rights anymore" watchlist

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I already don’t have rights under this administration. The lack of action from other Americans will get me killed. The question is just when not if.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Genuine question, do you think having a spotlight on you and everyone you interact with forever will help or hinder anything you might do under a tyrannical government?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm already a person that would be flagged for that. I was before America decided fascism in 2024 was the way to go. There is no burying that history. Plus just being what I am is enough for them to come for me. As I said. America already voted for my death. The clock is just ticking on when they will arrive.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People planning to do real shit aren't going to discuss it in a public forum like Imgur. That's a one-way ticket to Club Fed.

1 week ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Now THAT I agree with wholeheartedly. That's good OpSec I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about the folks still seeming to think that the Democratic Establishment will ever do anything to potentially stop or impede the Regime. That Hakeem has his "hands tied".

1 week ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Do everything you can, especially voting. Even Victor Orban's fascist regime couldn't keep control in the face of overwhelming voter turnout.

1 week ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Oh absolutely. I've never advocated to STOP doing the bare minimum.

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The overwhelming is your problem here.

Fascists are not an elite.

Fascists are a gang of bastards that pack in big bands to having heard protection.

I see too many fascists on USA soil to hope in any “overwhelming” vote against them.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

So you are advocating for what? Not voting, sitting in the corner, and sulking? Or a more violent approach?
