Well done welcome brother!!!!
pipo904
I stand and salute. People have a tendency to run away from fires. You sir, deserve a beer.
TheSweetWeasel
Now wield a red axe as you do battle with fire!
frickenunbelievable
They make you garden in that gear? Gruelling.
arebenji
Sir, I think you can remove your fire suit now, the exam has been over for nearly a week. @OP "I'm never taking this off... ever."
NlGHTW0LF
I can only imagine the smell. Those suits are insulated
thepancakeangel
Congrats!
attackSACHEL
First test: always be wearing the suit
NlGHTW0LF
Won't smell good after two days, however :P

Congratulations ... Most don't understand it's a lifestyle... Either you're gonna love it or hate it... Stay safe
DeDutchDudeDatDoes
Hats off to you, I know this is a demanding thing, and you have to maintain it too! I could not do it so I can only say: thank you OP.
Gouiya
Good job! Hope you enjoy that hot-ass suit. (Hot as in temperature)

Having passed the ritual of adulthood, the firefighter displays his plumage in hopes of seeking a mate.

How do we know this is you?

Congrats, welcome to the family!

Welcome to the brotherhood of fire! Stay safe man, and always make sure you got a partner watching your 6.

"Why thank you for making sure we don't die in a fire." -Everyone.
thelonliestroad
Lmao look at probie wearing his new gear at home
thelonliestroad
But seriously though congrats, remember to read the smoke.
LtEDEN
How physically fit do you actually have to be, to became a firefighter?
captainclutch
Depends on dept. I'm not in top shape, but I can hold my own.
Broken08
They beat us hard at my academy. They require physical tests twice a year. You don't need to be a super athlete, but close
Rips4w
Was it your mom's idea to pose you in front of the tree in your bunker gear? Sorry, that just seems like a very "mom" inspired pic. Grats!
damspam
Hey man once I became a ff my parents demanded I gear up for pics. It's practically a rite of passage lol
Rips4w
No doubt. I was a volunteer for 6 years. Cant help but feel a bit superhuman when youre geared up.

"The suit.....feels awesome......the power.....feels good" -Spiderman 3 (unfortunately)
reaperhead
Looks like a Scott mask. Be careful with the exultation valve. Guy died in our county because it was loose and ripped off in 1/2
reaperhead
hoarder house fire and the smoke got him
NYhook
They also are so secure to the mask that the mask will rip off your face first 2/2
NYhook
I assume you mean exhalation valve. What was his name and when? They are design to fail in the open position. 1/2
reaperhead
Ya exhalation, damn autocorrect
NYhook
Also if it was that loose the positive pressure would of overcame the valve causing the free flow of air, indicating an issue
reaperhead
I don't know all of the details. They found him with valve ripped off, and his glove off as he tried to block the hole with his hand.
redbeardva
You're not doing it right. You don't need to put on the gear until you're actually fighting a fire.
Everythingisracist
I guess it's... not practical
CorneliusCornwall
Oxygen is everywhere. Oxygen is flammable. Therefore he's always fighting fires (fuel)
firefighter77
Incorrect, oxygen is not flammable. It's presence is necessary for the combustion process but it won't burn on its own.
MrUpv0t3
Heeeyy I also learned this in fire tech! NOICE!
firefighter77
You need a different instructor if you learned oxygen is itself flammable. Source, I am a firefighter that teaches fire behavior.
MrUpv0t3
NOOOO I ment that there are 3 things you need in order to start a fire (oxygen, fuel, and heat)...oh and thank you for your service :)
