Frankenweenie might be a good one to start with. It’s not a musical and the stop motion is incredible if your into that kind of craftsmanship. I was just in awe of the details and it’s fun one to watch in October

I'd personally suggest Beatlejuice or the original Batman. He was fairly restrained back then. If you like them then you can go into the stuff he went wild with

yeah, Burton fans are obnoxious, for me I like some of his movies, but bounced off because they're All The Same in themes of aesthetics and themes

Looks like some Burton fans came by and delivered some leftover teenage angst downvotes. I’m not going to scold anyone for liking the movies, they are quite good based on the amount of fans it has. But rather than simply downvote a disagreeable post, explain why you like them, and why I should watch them. I don’t hate the movies, I simply don’t have much desire to devote any amount of time to seeing them.

They're dark, but I wouldn't say they're gritty. They're more dark and slick.
