Can people really be that stupid?
So when I was younger my body decided my thyroid was toxic and attacked it, sending it into overdrive. It ended up almost killing me and my thyroid had to be killed or I could have died. No more thyroid. You can't really live without a thyroid so I have to take replacement therapy. Had one of my friends telling me how all medications are horrible and evil... That everything can be solved with healthy eating and exercise. While I for my believe that there are a lot of over prescribed drugs, there are some VERY necessary ones too.
Not sure if we can be friends anymore... That is the thinking that gets people killed for easily treated diseases and disorders.
EDIT: Finally got to a computer. I don't think she is a bad person, but is frustrating when you try and explain to someone and they just won't listen... who knows she might feel the same about me not agreeing with her. We were not super close friends and have kind of drifted apart anyway. It is just very disturbing to me that an educated person such as herself really believes this. Not only that, but she won't let it go. I just don't think I need that in my life. If it was one of my incredibly close friends I might feel differently, but it isn't. Most of my close friends were around when I was going through all the thyroid stuff and remember what a mess I was. Seriously, before they killed my thyroid my resting HR was 160.
I honestly didn't think this would get to the front page or anything, just needed to rant. To anyone who has questions about thyroid disease or what I went through just tag me in your comment and I will try and respond. My computer is currently sick so I will most likely be on mobile. I can borrow a computer, but it isn't readily accessible.
General info is that I had Grave's Disease and had radioactive thyroid ablation twice in my teens. I have had a really hard time with regulation, but have finally found a supplement that works well for me.

Just went through RAI for Graves myself. It's been about 5 weeks post but I know without the beta blockers my resting was 120. Drugs man.

He is doing fine since his monthly tests of T3,TSH,T4 etc ae normal and dosage is adjusted is required.

If I remember correctly the max amount your body normally needs is 0.2mg and they come in pills up to that amt. taking 7 seems excessive

No, I react really well to methimazole for now, but my doc wants me to consider it in six months if it isn't under control.

Don't do radioactive iodine unless you can't keep it under control. Lots of risks with it main is causing a thyroid storm
