Buttermilk is often thought of as a high fat milk, like heavy cream. So fat free buttermilk would make as much sense as FF half and half.

They make fat-free half-and-half too. Great for diabetic-friendly ice cream. I think most people just need the acidity from buttermilk.

That's not half and half. Half and half is half skim and half cream. Cream is cream because of the fat in it.

Well they take half-and-half and take the fat out. I don't know what you're left with but it still upsets my stomach all the same.

I suppose next you'll tell me we have fat free butter too. The most refreshing thing I've seen was a carton of “non-dairy coffee whitener”.
