It's so strange how the Soviety Union and their many satellites built ornate, beautiful subway systems but wouldnt just feed their people.
AzgarOgly
Because feeding people is day to day expense. You build a subway once and can use it for decades showing everyone how great the country is.

They deliberately built the metro very deep in Tbilisi to act as a bomb shelter, at least in the central stations.
The US had the city of Tblisi targeted with two multi-megaton bombs.

The Soviet underground represents both travel and shelter. A reminder of the greatness of Communism; the last view during a nuclear attack.

St. Petersburg too, but I love how Moscow's stations get more and more modern art-y as you move away from the center.
Unfortunately, SPb and Moscow underground is polluted with advertisements.

How did you get these pictures? The Uzbek police are crazy strict about photographing the metro
I am pretty sure you can arrange the taking pictures of the subway there. Especially if you are doing some article about beauty of //
Tashkent subway stations or something like that. They charge you some money, assign you an subway official to escort and review the material
DJ280Z
Why?
Terrorism. There are police at the entrances and security cameras looking for people taking pictures
Conversely, in the Russian metro they encourage photography and even have marked "Selfie spots"
They discourage photography but establish selfie spots there.
I once spent a day going stop to stop, photographing the stations. Sometimes I went back and forth between couple to redo the pictures -

Check out Samarkand, some of the best Islamic architecture around, I think.

Mughal Architecture. Well, Timurid at the time, but there's a lot of carry-over. Taj Mahal is an example of the same.
The colour scheme is quite distinct from that seen in India, though. Though I'm more familiar with India's Hindu architecture.
You should look up some Mughal stuff. It came to India via the Timurid dynasty - whose capital was Samarkand - and it's quite stunning.
