They're going to 'fix' the payment system, to where half of all recipients see no money, while claiming it's the best system available. And when that fails, they'll say it's just not possible to make it work, and try to end the program all-together

The Schadenfreude part of me really wants to see them goof up the payment system or crash some piece of processing infrastructure so they miss a payment and really see what kind of full meltdown their base goes into.

I’ve done the math on how much I’ve paid into Social Security exclusively over my working life. I would like that money back if the program is going away, and it might need to be wired based on the amount.

Yyyeah, we all would. But we won't see a penny of it. It'll just vanish.
And don't think we'll be seeing our paychecks improve from this. It'll either be taken by higher taxes (we KNOW Trump wants to raise taxes on us, just to line his own pocket), wages will suddenly get cut for no reason, or the market will quickly raise prices because they can (can't leave any money on the table, right?)

The fucking dumbest part - and it’s so frustratingly dumb because it’s data-based fact beyond a shadow of a challenge - is that Social Security picks up so much that we would be paying significantly more for. Remove that and it doesn’t matter if we keep 5% more of a paycheck that is now being materially directed towards caring for family that has nowhere else to go. The essence and namesake of social security isn’t free fucking money, it’s rising all boats so we don’t all fucking drown.
