The biggest argument that I have received for this is "women are parents"...so are men, but they still have to register for the draft or risk incarceration. I don't like using the word feminism because it puts a bad taste in people's mouths, but this would absolutely denote true gender equality. Being a parent shouldn't disqualify you because men currently can't use that as an excuse. *edit-I'm not saying the draft is a good thing, I think it should be abolished. But if men are forced to register women should be too. Before I aged out I would've registered and gone to fight if I got drafted. My health then wouldn't have prevented me from getting drafted, but it did prevent me from enlisting in the Air Force, which is the only branch of military I wanted to go into. My health is rapidly declining now, but that didn't start until I was 26. The registration for the draft only goes until you are 25.
