A year spent doing a 9 to 5 with food, a house and occasional hobbies is better spent than one homeless dreaming of what you want to do
But a lifetime spent amassing a fortune only to live to age where all the years to spend it are behind you is a life wasted
Sounds like you're describing a really specific situation. The type of people that work 80+ hours a week and make a fortune are pretty rare.
The majority of people that make what might be called a fortune still have time to waste it on golf, children, etc. while they're making it.
I'll even add that fresh out of college you may need to work ridiculous hours but after you will have a high paying job or at the very least
