I would eat the cupcakes

Now that I now know how to bake, I can start a business & finally I'll be able to afford the microscope I'll need to read these.

Thanks for making me feel like I'm on Pinterest!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Sounds good to me!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

half a teaspoon = .5 teaspoon. thank you for that. We all wondered.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But no where does it tell you how to measure flour.

Just doing my part, Sir or Madam!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're assuming I need help piping...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How to halve, step 1) divide by two

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

from now on we can call it "Ateco805-post"...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One day I will bake. On that day this may be helpful

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Grams.. I need the weight in grams please

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well thanks to this post I was making pie crust at 4 am.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

if you need to look at a chart to figure out that half of 2/3 is 1/3, I'd suggest you pass the third grade before you try cooking.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

I was more worried by 1tbsp being converted to 1.5tsp. Why not just... Half a tbsp.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Harsh...but oh so true.

Hmmm?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Have I stumbled into Pinterest?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd have baking powder more than i'd have cream of tartar. Plus baking powder is probably cheaper

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Brilliant. Favorited. Will forget in next 15min and rediscover years later. +1

Where's the piping tips?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So someone could technically be piping an apple pie and call it baking?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So we seriously need a chart on how to halve things?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

i was so confused as well. aren't most (if not all) of those just basic fractions??

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm still trying to figure out why I would ever want to bake half as much of a thing.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's good for when you're experimenting & don't wanna be stuck with a whole batch of something you might not fancy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I came here hoping to learn the bagpipes. I was misinformed. There were no piping tips.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll give u a piping tip: go for the bronze man

I love baking but screw you pie crust. Making the lattice look easy, fails to mention it will crack and break.

10 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 1

Yeah, if your dough is too dry. If it's done well, lattice crust is super easy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't judge: i use vegetable shortening instead of butter. Lard works even better, but you can feel your arteries closing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like your dough is too dry!

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

or too cold possibly. the fat hardening when cold doesn't help flexibility either.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

OP is not responsible for individual results.

10 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 0

Skip that, bake pies in muffin tins, use cookie cutters to make adorable airplane top crusts for them.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Take responsability and post a good pie recipe then!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Make your dough a little thicker to stand up to being manipulated.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's the consistency that causes cracking, not thickness.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I could show you how but you're there and I'm here

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A very workable and delicious crust is 2c flour, 1c shortening, 1/2 icy water. Mix to a coarse meal and let it rest in fridge for 1h.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1 tbsp --> 1.5 tsp. Why not just use 1/2 tbsp measure??? Lol

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is there a such thing as a 1/2 tbsp measure? I've never seen one but 3 tsp= 1 tbsp so it makes sense to me

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There most certainly is! I've used it many a time.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Strange! We must have weird measuring spoons

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never seen half a tablespoon. That is really freaking weird. I always just filled up my tbsp halfway or used tsp.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you don't have baking powder but have cream of tartar lying around....

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It happens, I buy it, use it once then it sits in my pantry. I run out of baking powder quicker.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Forgive my ignorance, what's it for?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe you use in in meringue.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, I never realized that halving a recipe is a problem with imperial measures. I mean, we can even make a third or a seventh with ease!

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

same. mind blown. I very often do half or thirds of recipes when cooking alone or for 2

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah, or scale them down to fit the rest of one of the ingredients I have left. So something like 32,7% of the original recipe.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

halving honestly isnt an issue if you can math, we just have dumb measurements, its not like they cant be halved too :P

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure how you want to measure anything that isn't one of the static measuring cups.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you can always half something that you have a measurement for even if its just filling that measurement halfway.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine are half-spheres (not sure if they usually have a different shape, got them as a present), while one can half that with some (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the 'little units' (3)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this is true. Anything thats not 1/2 can be tricky I suppose. My measuring spoons are spoon shaped but my measuring cups are cylinders.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

practice I honestly don't know how to do a 3rd or something like that. Approximating volume is tricky. Also don't know how to do that for(2)
