Been doing Brazilian JiuJitsu for six months now. I started it because at 5'10" 235lbs, I had to make a change. I'm down to 192lbs as of today, my blood pressure has regulated itself, and I wake up full of energy. Also changed my diet drastically and have cut out all added sugar. All these things are awesome...but this picture describes my body well.
Currently walking around with a broken toe, a sprained thumb, two broken ribs (on opposite sides)
My goal is 170lbs. I will get there, and it will hurt.

Thanks for listening, or thanks for the down vote.

That's how I feel every morning

Did BJJ for a while. So tiring. Good job but heal yourself. You dont want to be out of commission and start all over

I was 290 while in school, started working again last year and I'm now about 265, a ways to go yet but it sure does make a difference.

I undermine martial arts training more than I should

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck how I wish I could get my shit together and start something like this.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started at 150 and no one at the gym was under 200. That shit sucked for about a year.

Just started BJJ myself, I'm all bruised and broken too. And sore in places I didn't know existed

Amazing isn't it!?

I'm so in love! It's like a puzzle... a super sweaty and at times painful puzzle. Go us for doing something awesome! Good luck!

I think so. It looks very familiar.

Swamp thing is the shit (in a good way)

Good on you man. It's tough making changes sometimes. Sounds like you are enjoying yourself for the most part. And nice on the jiu-jitsu!

You might wanna slow down man, overtraining is a very real thing and if you feel that way that's probably what's happening

I've been told just this. I was going four days a week, but for he last few I've been cutting back and rolling lighter...until I heal >:)

That's smart. Especially if you're dieting your body has to work harder to repair itself, make sure you're eating lots of protein!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My model for eating now is half lean meat, half veggies (salad or whatever) on my plate. I've also been using shakes to get extra protein

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's pretty good, are you getting any carbs?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mostly from veggies and fruits. Broccoli and apples and what not. My energy level is good, so I think it's a decent base

I've wanted to do something like this for years (Muay Thai specifically) for better self defense but just can't muster the courage. Props 2U

Waking into my academy the first day was terrifying...instantly felt welcome though

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I keep saying one day I'll man up. I need to find someone that would go with, at least the first couple times.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm at 180. Goal is 155-160. Just working out on a regular basis and dieting is hard enough.

Just be careful - muscle is denser than fat, so you can end up slimming yourself but upping the weight.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when you hit a plateau that it's ok!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree keep it up. I started at 325 and am down to 265 now, traveling for work makes it even harder to keep it up.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had the same problem. Jits makes me want to go and do more

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't you get the point where your muscles get so developed you keep your weight? Anyways, it's good you have energy. Keep it up!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trust me bro, the last 20-30 lbs is the hardest. A year ago I was at <170. Losttrack and jumped back to 190. Been a long road!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same weight here man! Your probably taller then me though I'm only 5'7". My lifts are way better, my cardio is less then before.Overall 1/

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel better to be honest...but look sloppier...so it's more aesthetics for me.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good job OP!! I was in the same boat when I started. Now I'm at healthy weight, and I'm a brown belt! You'll stop breaking toes, I swear.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 months later...toes aren't a problem anymore...now I just have to solve the rib issue. Frame frame frame!
