Because censoring acts that actually happen has always worked out well

The one useful thing fiction does is it enables awareness of these issues.

2020 prediction: "showrunners bans every word with the slightest chance to trigger someone."

It's not censorship. It's a stand against hack writing. Structured fictional drama & narrative arc =/= 'things that actually happen'.

I still don't understand how rape is worse than murder. Hard to recover from being murdered.

Pretty sure it has to do with rape being the go to trope for female tragic character building.

How about we just have more plots involving guys getting raped? That sounds fair to me.

Pretty sure game of thrones has that. Not as often as women, but it's there

Tons in Oz too. Not the yellow brick road one, the prison rapey one.

You might.

It's because it's an overused plot device that just fucks up the focus of a story.

I'm not saying I like to see it happen in dramas but if you start removing them because of overuse youre not going to have a lot left to use

It's the indpendent action of some showrunners. Won't do any great damage even if it's too strict.

Let's also ban murder and stalking. We wouldn't want any reflection on the real world.

while we're at it, robberies, home invasion, and assault.
