Woodn't you need to print it reversed so that the ink on top of the wax paper is transfered? I can't imagine it transfering through thepaper

Nope. When you flip the paper over so the printed side is on the piece of wood, the image is reversed for you, the just iron on.

I wonder if you could do this with regular paper in a laser printer by disconnecting the fuser and ironing the toner onto the wood.

I don't think the paper would make it out of the printer without getting toner all over the printers insides and smearing.

Anecdotally, I once had a printer jam and had to yank the paper out - the toner was still on there until I wiped it off with my hand.

it would make a mess... and most printers won't work with the fuser disconnected. they make laser transfer paper for this.

The printer would likely not print at all because it checks the temp of the fuser/if the fuser is present.

Not older ones. I've seen plenty of laser printers come out with cold paper and toner that falls off.

You're better off using TAP - transfer artist paper. Doesn't fade like wax transfers, not prone to jamming up your copier.

The wax paper is still bad for inkjets. Nice way to ruin the page separator and other rollers with contamination.

If you try a laser jet printer, you get an inconveniently large paperweight. I recommend inkjet.

They do, you're just looking through the paper, ink is on the other side.
