Beginning at the end. You can get these 24’ by 24’ shade canopies on amazon for bout $200 with nice cable reinforcements.
I used 304 stainless and the roll bender at work (after hours, don’t tell).
Cope all the joints together and weld.
Ok, I know my stainless tig welds aren’t the best. But I accept the criticism well, so have at it internet keyboard warriors;)
We filled the tubes with cement. (This is not me, I wouldn’t wear a bifurcated garment) the cement adds strength and alters wind resonance. High winds where we are.
Set the “posts” down 40” in cement.
Ready to pour
Add shade sail and enjoy
Curving the “posts” allows hanging chairs as one advantage.

When you weld stainless does it keep its rust-preventing properties or do you have to coat it with something?

When done correctly it retains the SS properties. You can do it with say normal MIG and it will work but be subject to rust.

That was the geometry that worked best. From near the trees bending away from them. In the driveway, bending more over the driveway.
