I met her once back in the 90's when I was installing some electronic gear at Q107 in Toronto. She was just wrapping up in the studio and came out to say hello. What a genuinely nice person.
I was pretty sure she was at least 80 when I learned about oral sex from her as an impressionable teen. I can't imagine a more informative and caring octagenarian helping me explore my body for the first time.
She was the first person I ever saw talking about sex without shame. Literally a sex positivity role model. Answered countless questions I’d never have had the guts to ask in a sex ed class.
Canadians, especially, were lucky to have her. She and Sue McGarvie taught me more about sex and sexuality than any school could ever dream. And they did it with positivity, encouragement and empathy. She'll be missed.
Talk sex was on tv in Minnesota. I used to watch it. That women loved butt plugs. It was a possible answer for any question to her. ED? Butt plug! Want to spice things up? Butt plug. Got a dirty car? You guessed it. Car wash! She was a gem tho
Wifey and I was channel surfing and stopped on whatever channel she happened to be on. She was on a rave about grape scented butt plugs. We had a good chuckle out of that. We watched the rest of the show and then several subsequent shows after that. This was in the early 2000's.
Fun fact: (maybe not so fun) Dr Ruth was a Holocaust survivor and later an accomplished sniper for the Haganah (Haganah was the precursor to the Israeli defense force).
When I met Sue, she joked that "Doctor" Ruth was in fact not one. She thought she was a joke. And she was. Do not but Sue, a wonderful force of love, to Dr. gossip girl in the afternoons.

Kunitsu
Right? She answered questions my mom would have covered her ears and " LA LA LA" 'd me to death for having asked
ToSisPoS
Sex Ed can lead to less child sexual abuse, thus making her a lot of conservative enemies.

Once again I'm asking for dicksout

The amount of sad teens she told they had an STD is staggering.

She came and spoke at our college once. It was great having her be so open and casual about sex and answer questions honestly and without shame. RIP

She taught me more about sex education, body autonomy and consent than my parents, my teachers and anyone else in my life. She was a blessing.

You ever listen to love line on the radio?
JemIsTrulyOutrageous
I did in the late 90s/early 2000s. Fuck Adam Carolla though.

Whoa! What did he do to you? Show me on the doll where he touched you. But seriously ?

Hes a right winger, a sexist asshole, racist, homophobe, a covid denier.

We had Dr Ruth during the 80s and 90s. She's 95 now. I really hope someone picks up the mantle for these two women.

I hate that hitting enter posts comments. But to add on, I and other Canadians learned so much from her. She was doing an important service, IMO.

She taught us Canadian gen-Xers to be generous, patient and open to having sex with elderly nurses backstage.
