I don't care if this dies in usersub, I just wanted to share the great news with you beautiful people.

Oregon, here I come!

FP edit: wow this blew up! Thank you for all the support and funny comments :3 I'm so excited!!

Update: It took my preferred company a couple weeks to get back to me but I got the job! Yaaay! Im a front desk receptionist/optical assistant! My coworkers and the job itself are lovely and a lot of fun. Definitely the right amount of challenging for me :3

The other place felt like a pyramid scheme selling high-speed fiber internet to old folks and it didn't seem right so I didn't take their offer.

But yaaaaay I got a job!!!

As a Californian, I wish you luck. Over 70,000 Californians have moved away just in the last year. I credit Grey Davis for being an asshat.

Should we tell him Oregon doesn’t exist?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Suffer in the rain, sorry you couldn’t hack it in CA

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Congrats @op I made it out of CA 9 years ago. So happy I did. Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

looks like two positives to me.

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 3

LOL I was just trying to be nice about it <3

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Oregon is better than CA. Source: me.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Canada isn't that bad

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is how my 25 min commute has turned into an hour and 45 min, in two years. I hope it doesn’t take you long to give up and leave

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks for not coming to Arizona. We got enough of you fuckers here.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bless you! and good luck getting out of California. I hear Astoria, Oregon is nice.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We got out 2 years ago because of work! Sadly, we may have to go back because of work.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would love to move out of Ca but its not as easy for a gay Mexican female to go just anywhere and be comfortable

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I think you are looking for portland. Like seriously though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool! What kind of work?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both admin type positions, one at an Optometry place and the other in a Marketing firm! (I'm hoping for the marketing firm >.<)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I moves to Portland from the Bay years ago and hated it. It was racist, people were dicks and the weather sucks

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

*moved

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't want to get burned or flooded anymore, huh? Congrats

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I just moved back after an internship. I missed oregon! And brought a transplant (CA boy) with me! What part of OR are you coming to? :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Springfield bordering Eugene :D Congrats on the transplant! I'm lugging my SO with me too!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

That’s awesome! I’m just north of that! There’s some awesome hiking/camping trails right around there (check out Mackenzie River area!)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah I'm so excited :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm looking to move back to CA, any reason why you're leaving?

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

I'm in Paso Robles, in a tiny 2 bedroom. Single mom. I pay $1500/month rent, and make $1600/month. You do the math.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And SF alone has almost 1mil people, whereas Eugene & Springfield combined has a little over 240k people. Just that makes me breathe easier

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Yeah Eugene!! Message me if ya want any advice on stuff to do, yummy food, hikes or hangouts. :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also moved here from the bay btw... for context.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My S.O. and I decided to move to OR after visiting a few times and meeting hella nice people and being surrounded by trees and nature

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

What are you interviewing for?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Hella" you're definitely from the bay

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

XD

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Moving out of CA was the best thing I ever did. Not knocking you for wanting to go back. It’s just not the state I grew up in anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Well shit. I'm just wanting to move for the money

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree, CA has changed a lot and the Bay Area has become unbearable. Looking to move out of the state soon

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well I live in the Bay Area, and everything is too expensive and I find myself hating everyone because it's so congested and full of traffic

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I'm getting that way with Denver lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Santa Cruz. WAY too expensive. I think you made a good call. Best of luck!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm looking more towards Sacramento, I hated SF

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Im in the Sacramento area. Im looking to move out of CA because I hate the bay area and almost all the biotech jobs are there

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I moved from IL to the Bay Area. I'm staying for college and then leaving. Too many shallow, entitled nutbags here. I'll miss In-N-Out.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm looking to move to Vegas soon for the same reasons. It's just not worth the money. The dating scene has been really bad for me too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm also leaving the bay. It's such a shit hole

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

What are you, trump?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Crap I have been found

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who’s always wanted to visit San Fransisco that sucks to hear. Not really surprised tho based on LA and San Diego.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Visiting is fine. Living here though is fucking shit. Expensive as fuck. Fuck the bay area

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Don’t know why anyone would want to live there seems way too uptight and generally unhappy people

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've visited SF a few times and it's a lot of fun. Not sure I'd live there though. Definitely insanely crowded.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good. CA is full.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I'm from Oregon and just moved to SoCal and I'm loving every overpriced second of it

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Yay I've always wanted to pay 9 percent in sales tax!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

CA is my home state and I love it dearly. I just can't even come close to ever affording to live there again.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Me too! Grew up in Portland, went to OSU and now I'm in Los Angeles!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Small world dude! What year did you graduate?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same! LA is 10/10 compared to Beaverton tbh

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Dude, Portland ain't Oregon. Still, sounds like Cali is more your speed so best of luck to you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh my, i'm so sorry. San diego blows Hillsboro out of the water as well though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No stop moving here ppl! It rains and we have oceans and mountains. It’s not that good seriously

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Good luck! I'm leaving California this weekend, too.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Ayy congratulations moving buddy! Where are you headed?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Arizona. Where in Oregon are you headed?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Smart move OP, CA is bleeding me dry

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I live in the "cheap" part of Oakland for reference.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Oh god. Condolences.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I had a good run, been living on my own (with roommates) for 8 ish years but I'm tired of spending all my money for rent in a horrible place

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nooooooo!!!!!! Try Washington instead!!!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hah and I'm moving TO CA soon. Reunite with my husband and live it up away from snow and ice.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Luckily where were going it apparently only snows maybe 2" a year!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Gas pump Instructor ?

8 years ago | Likes 347 Dislikes 2

Solid comment. 5/7

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

In other words, he knows how CA does things and he may or may not be running astray from some unknown characters..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now normally I don't read into it to far but it looks like our beloved college here has the real interview and the crash dummy interview...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I would probably make decent money with that lol

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 2

This is literally my wife and I! Our move in date is the 31st into Portland. I have an interview with Portland unified schools shortly after

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m planning on ditching CA soon too. Best of luck!

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Canadian here, dreaming to move to cali some day!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Don’t do it. Stop in Oregon.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You know how people say to never give up on your dreams? This is one of those times that saying is wrong. California is awful.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought about it, but I don't want to move too far while my Dad is alive.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey me too. Pretty nervous about it tbh

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Saaame! Going cross country.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i left CA about 2 years ago. where are you headed?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Somewhere east. Thinking Virginia. :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Springfield

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Which one?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stay the hell out of NV!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I’d never willingly set foot there. Lol

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah, no worries there pal.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Move to Denver. There's no traffic and housing is super affordable." -every Californian ca. 1975, 1985, 1992-1998, 2005, 2009-2015.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Those days are long over here :-|

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They've been saying that since 1999. Problem is, if your frame of reference is LA or the Bay, literally everywhere is less crowded.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My family moved back from San Diego, CA in 92. Dad was born in Boulder. CO certainly isn't very cheap/have less traffic anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You too friend!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Why are you leaving Canada?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too much maple syrup

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Congratuations! I am hoping, in a few years, to be able to move out of California too.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I like to imagine that one day there won't be a California to move out of. Good luck

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Oregon is fast becoming CA lite.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

A lot are going to AZ.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m interested in leaving CA for AZ

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best spots are around Prescott and of course Phoenix. Great areas.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Urban areas maybe, it's still pretty unpredictable out inn the sticks though ;)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't Oregonians have a thing against people from California?

Ha ha! Find a place that doesn't have a thing against Californians.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Mostly we snidely mock their driving skills.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes. We hate them

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

fake-but-trying-to-be-real oregonians do. Real ones are chill.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

They shouldn't. Half the state is California transplants...

8 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 10

Most have a problem do BECAUSE of this......

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Yeah that's like, totally the entire point! Ohmygod! Aren't Californians like, so great?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Yes

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oregon girls sound like California girls with the flu, I don't see what the big deal is

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They do. Except the ones from California. Which is most of them.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Moved from California. Was told to quickly change my Ca. plates on my car. I thought they were kidding...they weren't.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even Californians hate each other if the recent New California stuff is any indication.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but in fairness Oregonians have a thing against Washington folk way more. Vancouver blows, ODoyle Rules

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Grew up in OR, live in CA now. Visit https://www.shouldimovetoportland.com

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shhhhhhhhhhh! Don’t tell him yet!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My mom thinks they drive like shit

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Guess she hasn’t met anyone from Washington yet

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Haha guess not

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Worst drivers ever. Only place were I'll get cut off by people using the right shoulder.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on where, but generally its per person and I don't intend to advertise where I'm from until after I make a first impression.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

Change your plates ASAP. Assholes vandalize/rage because of them.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Please, please, don't be one of those liberals that fucks over well run conservative libertarian cities/states.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Oregon's population isbmore liberal than conservative. It's just the underpolulated areas that are typically conservative.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Just do everyone a favor and remember that you left for a reason. Don't bring California with you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a person from Alabama, I totally get that.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

From Alabama moved to San Francisco. Almost gotten in so many fights. Me-"I'm from Alabama" Multiple people-"Oh do you hate black people?"

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

"No, but I do hate you, now. So thanks for that."

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"Of course, don't you?" - TheUsernameGothamNeeds probably

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get similar, 'oh you're from Texas? How many guns do you have?'

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think I'd prefer the gun stereotype over the other one.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

7th generation native Oregonian... We joke about hating people from CA buying up all the good homes, but really we couldn't care less

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Speak for yourself. I left Oregon and will not move back, because of the Californians.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

What’s up with Oregonians always stating what generation they are?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Didn't realize this was a thing. No offense or racial purity intended.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like racial purity to me.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's mostly backlash against the problems to do with too many people arriving all at once. It just happens most of them are from CA.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

One word. Intel

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Intel, OHSU, Nike, a plethora of silicon forest companies, various other tech satellite offices, startups galore, lots of draw, no space.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, add maxium in there and Amazon and that's the whole list nearly. Iived in Oregon my whole life till last year

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I just have to say I’m so fuckin stoked that there are so many Lane County peeps on here!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell yes!!!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Omg what if I know you

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The thought could be horrifying hahaha but I don’t live there anymore :( I made the great migration to Portland.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Omg why

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Springfield! I'm excited to explore all the nearby hiking trails. I'll be right by the Willamette River and U of O

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Take time to visit the coast in April, you’ll get to see our pod of whales that come up from Hawaii. Go to Depot Bay!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh shit that’s where I live!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m a local Eugenian!!!! Welcome to the area, check out the Eugene Saturday market when it starts again super fun. Toshis ramen is my fave

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also Ryd for a fancier place so many good breweries and food for you to explore!! Have fun!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rye***** crap sorry on mobile

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Much appreciated!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I live here too! Check out Mt Pisgah, nice trails and they have festivals a couple times a year!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spencer's Butte for sure, there are great wineries in the area, I really like Sam Bond's Garage in the Whiteaker- live music!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've played Sam Bond's, can confirm worth visiting! Eugene crowds are always super cool/chill too.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unless they're Spring-tucky crowds...who are not super cool/chill

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are you kidding? Springfield has become so much better than Eugene.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotcha, I should clarify the crowds I run into are the kind that attend folk shows/festivals so my experience is a little biased.
