Fair enough. If you want to say that trying to haul a full grown human into her nest by the finger in order to care for it is intelligent...
They're smarter than cats, about on par with dogs. Like I said in the other comment, hormones can cause strange behaviors.
But hormones kick in to cause instinctual behaviors than intelligence can't override, at times. This happens in humans, too.
