My dad was one of the bulldozer operators for this, and damn near lost his life because of poor timing/planning of the helicopter pilot. >
All parts of these operations are incredible, dangerous, and are worth recognition! I just pray they keep their brothers in mind out there.

The good thing is there's already not enough helo pilots and demand is increasing so our jobs should be fine. Drone pilots will also be in
increasing demand as the technology improves, so if you're interested start learning now! Many flight schools teach drone piloting as well.

I did a back of the envelope "aerial as primary firefighting" calculation for Australia. If you spent a billion dollars on basically V1s /
propellers strapped to them you could have 10,000 1 tonne waterbomber aircraft linked to low orbit satellites that could find and hit/
with 100 tonnes of water a fire pretty much anywhere in under 30 minutes. For reference we are spending $2bn (plus probably double that in/
private funding insurance etc) recovering from the last bushfires. It'd never happen though.
Nothing's Skynet until it is. All you need to make Skynet are technology and assholes...and we have plenty of both.
