#1 remember how shows in the 90s-2000s, like charmed, always had one female character that they played up as the uglier/fat one, even when they clearly aren't? I remember for this show it was the one with the sharpest eye brows. She was still skinny and pretty, but they always have one to portray those values by being a healthy weight instead of skinny af. A weird hollywood/tv thing of the time that I feel we are still not really fully past.

In SF there's an annual ball that celebrates Gorey's work. This year's theme was the Gashlycrumb Tinies. Macabe, weird and wonderful in the best possible way

Hunh. I'll admit, I didn't know the creator's name, much less any other works. Maybe my mom might have. But it was enough for me to know that was a tremendously artistic piece that encapsulated pretty much all the classic mystery tropes.

There is another eye-scene in another film by Lucio Fulci called "The New York Ripper" (1982). It features a razor blade, and is disturbingly authentic-looking. I think the SFX were done by legend Tom Savini.
