I know it's a bit off topic, but if anyone was ever wondering about red and yellow cards in soccer, the idea came from traffic lights. yellow = slow down, proceed with caution; red = stop (and take the rest of the game off). Come to think of it, maybe I should write red and yellow on my cards in case we play a game in black and white. Cool, I brought it back on topic.

In America you can tell by Red on top, Green on bottom & yellow in the middle.

This is actually a myth. They could tell if the light was red, yellow or green by whether the top, middle or bottom light was illuminated.

There's one traffic light in Syracuse, NY that has green on top. It's located in "Tip Hill", a predominantly Irish-American neighborhood. Attempts to "fix" it have resulted in locals breaking it by throwing rocks at it. https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/14218

They’re supposed to always be on the bottom but because of one that was installed upside down one of my high school teachers discovered he was color blind.

Back in the early ’60s Richmond, VA had theirs upside down, or sideways but in the wrong order, and my uncle went through some lights at the wrong time. I think he already knew he was colorblind and that was the explanation he gave a police officer.

In countries with right-hand traffic red is supposed to be on the left. Only place I've seen pictures of red on the right is Japan, although I'm sure others are better traveled than I.

In my town they switched to a single round light with color changing LEDs. So the whole thing changes from red to green to yellow instead of three different lights.

When Dorothy gets to Oz, she walks out of her (still black and white) house into a full technicolor world, it was a completely magical experience. Color feature films had only been common for less than 10 years at that point and most were still made in B&W so while Oz was certainly not the first color feature film, it might still have been the fist such experience for some people.
