It's an etching cream you can get at any craft store.

Get the tip of a dentist drill, you can fix it in a bic pen without the color cartridge. With it you can draw on glass easily.

You are correct. I make the stencil out of masking tape.

I just started doing this too! But I use a cricut and contact paper. Might be worth the investment. Also, I'm not talented.
