OR they're all corroded and while they may be the right round, they are no good. Ammo does go bad, especially when exposed to moisture.

Honestly surprises me we don't have more sci-fi shooters with unlimited, non-reloading ammo. Mass Effect did that for a bit before 2 didn't.

This is true, I work on a range, if a round is damaged we disassemble it, remove the powder and utilize it later.
