I have become fully convinced that Conservatism as a political movement or set of ideals is utterly and entirely without merit. Its core tenets in practice are about exploiting the vulnerable for self enrichment. I've been alive for 41 orbits around our sun and have yet to be introduced to a conservative idea that wasn't somehow to the benefit of those already with power or those already with wealth at everyone else's expense.

I think you're ignoring the statement. The idea is that Dems/liberals can't cheat since it would appear to violate their message of "fairness". While YOU may not care, many others would and it would result in them losing followers.
On the flip side, goo aren't bound by these restrictions (cheating, stealing, lying, etc) as long as it's "for their team"

I'm not ignoring the statement. Anyone who thinks the Dems should handicap themselves out of fairness when the GOP blatantly cheat and would stop supporting the Dems if they didn't intentionally martyr themselves, is not support we should want. It's about achieving the policies. If you think it's about team sports or whatever bullshit, people die when the GOP are in power. We should do what it takes to prevent that, perceptions be damned.
