One of the biggest reasons SAG-AFTRA is on strike is the pathetic amount of residuals we are getting off of streaming.
I have two episodes of Chicago PD running in syndication on cable & I make WAY more money than the episode of Chicago Med I did, that only is available online.
Keep in mind that only the top 1% are the A-listers that everyone knows.
The rest of us have to scrape by a living by doing background, stand-in work, stunts, doubling & theatre in between the occasional commercial or co-star role.

Dont sleep on commercial work, I did a ton of it in the recession. Steady work, you get paid at the end of the day, and its never actually hard. Its not a bad niche to pick up non union gigs.

I can’t do Non Union commercials cause I’m in SAG-AFTRA. & trust me, I’ve been trying to book the big ones. So far I’ve had 1 regional political ad & 1 national Commercial.

I have .11¢ in a retirement fund I cashed out now 10 years ago. I can't withdraw it because I have to take more than $100 per withdrawal, and to put money in if it's not a pre-tax they charge me a fee. So, going on 10 years they tell me every quarter about my .11¢ balance.

Same, with a savings account of mine that my dad set up, and my mom drunkenly robbed when I was 10. There was about 2 NOK (~30cents) in the account, and the bank kept sending me yearly letters to brag how much my money had grown in their care. I let them send the letters until I got one on my 37th birthday. It was still worth about the same, 2NOK.

snoop dog recently did an interview and called out the streaming and music biz. Something along the lines of people are streaming to hundreds of thousand and sometimes millions of unique views and the actual content providers are barely making any money they get millions of views but the platform is who makes the millions of dollars. The platforms wouldnt last and exist without the content providers. So wheres all the money going why isnt the creators making the millions like they used to -snoop

64 thousandths of a cent per stream on Spotify IF you own all rights and publishing AND it’s a full stream AND it’s the first stream by that user for the day. It’s gross. I get thousands of streams a quarter and it doesn’t buy a cup of coffee or match one physical CD sale.
