We went to a ridiculously expensive restaurant for wife's birthday and I ordered this, the house special, thought it'd be an experience worth it

Biggest let down of the year lol

Was yellow shirt man on a date? Sewing machine leg suggests he was nervous, stimming or both. Hopefully his date was as eager and nervous about seeing him because that sort of shit is serious meet cute.

Is this an over performance for food? Yes. Do i want it anyways? Also yes. Do i wanna pay w/e the ridiculous price it would cost for this? Probably fucking not. Like im sure its plenty good, but is it good enough to justify w/e they are probably charging for it... doubt it

Or hear me out on this......a cheese grater.

My blood pressure says no, but I don't care.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cross contamination much

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Leave the wheel

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who cut the cheese?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Literally… nobody :)

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you want some pasta on your cheese?

Sure!

Wait, what?!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was about to say, there better be some black pepper going on there.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and garlic powder.

Raclette?

I just tried to give my wife some cheese and, despite my magical hand waving, she was not the least bit fascinated.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Next time, wrap that cheese in a $100 bill. Guaranteed, she'll be fascinated then.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This must be how rich people eat

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The cheap one. A really cheap one without any branding. Like Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It was already on the spoon,....skip the rest and spoon feed me!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can the human gut even process that much cheese? And If I could meet an attractive woman that has no gag reflex to that slop...

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's hot

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ugh, stay away with that truffle shit. Also, this needs to be 50% larger, I gotta eat.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is Italy. That pasta course is basically a starter.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And now we throw the wheel of cheese out and get a fresh one for the next guy.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yo, that cheese is FIRE!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's WAY too much cheese and truffle

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

I disagree. Not nearly enough.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Truffle probs but cheese, never

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"WAY too much cheese"

I recognize all those words, but cannot understand them in that sequence.

2 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I don’t know you. But know this. You are loved. By me. I love you.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can hear my arteries hardening just watching this

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aaaaand they ruin it with the fungus shavings.

2 weeks ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 10

Hear, hear!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's not going to taste of anything else but truffle

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean you can ask to not have it on. I do think truffles are overrated and overused but lots of people genuinely like them.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Quite the open mind for food .. cheese and noodles

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You have no concept for how much I despise the taste of mushrooms.

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Are you sure it's not a texture thing? Cause I used to not like the texture but mushrooms are booomb. Esp mushroom soup or on pizza

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Sautéed, grilled, boiled, baked, freeze dried, no matter how it’s prepared, it still makes me heave violently.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

For me, the white button and cremini mushrooms are horrendous. I've been gradually exploring other types of fungus and they haven't been horrible.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How come?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are we storing... well my first thought was oil but given how it burned I'm guessing some kind of alcohol, in our teapots now? Also truffle is too damn good for how expensive it is and I really don't understand why we can't cultivate that shit

2 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Do we really need to cultivate them? Truffles are good, but they just taste like mushrooms got cooked with garlic to me. Both crops that are easier to cultivate and easily cooked together to get a very similar taste from. It wouldnt surprise me if this is what restaurants are doing most of the time and claiming its truffles so they can charge more for the same dish.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

From my understanding, we could cultivate it if we really wanted, but whoever does it is going to have to do something like 15-20 years of careful work before they see their first marketable harvest. The ramp-up time to production is just too long to be viable on the scale of the human lifespan.

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We've got 20 year old scotch. I guess it's a matter of how much we want it. LOL.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because we don't understand nearly as much of the world as we think we do.

2 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Specially when it comes to soil

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My understanding is its less about soil and more about no matter what we do truffles won't fruit unless they have host trees, so you have to plant the trees, infect the trees roots with the truffles spores, then wait like 5 or more years and hope it worked out.

https://macleans.ca/society/truffle-farming-harvest-okanagan/ Article about someone who did it in BC nearly 2 decades to get the first harvest.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well that explains the recent truffle explosion in my area the last few year. Being in the PNW and all.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That'll be $125

2 weeks ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 5

For the whole wheel? Sold!

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, your eyebrows will grow back.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m going to need 2

2 weeks ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's a first course, you have the main course after this.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I stand by my order

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't wanna wake up tomorrow either, and it seems an honorable death.

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Of I’m dead tomorrow i won’t be able to eat so I need to eat enough to get me through.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1 gram of uranium contains a couple billion calories... sure last the rest of your life.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whut?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, “Ostaria Pastella” , found it on google maps..

2 weeks ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 1

still way more than I can spend for 8 bites of something.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What's the date on that picture?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What was in the kettle? Vodka?

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Usually pure alcohol

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably, maybe some italian grappa

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh SNAP! I LOVE some good sauce!!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Florence

2 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Most recent menu has it at €28, which is $32.69 (nice). I'd pay that for the little table-side performance! https://www.osteriapastella.it/menu/

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd pay 4x that if they just bash my head open with that cheese.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would do that to you for free. *wink* /s
(In reality, you would think your head was about to be hit by the cheese, but then it would turn out to be a thin tissue paper mache replica that was realistic enough to fool you, so after you realized that you survived, you were glad to be alive to be able to eat the real cheese, which I would serve you, lol. The experience would cost you at least $3.50).

Today I learned that European menus have a food allergy chart and the dishes list the allergy codes after them. Also interesting that it has all of that AND the disclaimer on the bottom

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even though the initial contact was just a joke, your fact-smacking is epic and gets a +1

2 weeks ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 0

But the half form of Grana Padano it will pass the 300€ for sure(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly, it didn't really need to be "face-smacked" but you chose to do it anyway and I applaud that.

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, i apparently mentally budgeted for a couples meal with a drink each plus taxes without knowing it 😁

2 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Not complaining about your comment... I was actually going to type something like 150 just for the truffle, but this other guy just bitch slapped us...

2 weeks ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

What a gorgeous menu

2 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

As an Italian cook..yes, it is

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing that goes against the grain for me is the "Florentine" complete with quotation marks. I'd find a way to sneak that into the description without the quotation marks, maybe "Florentine-style" later on. Just my brain.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fiorentina Steak is an institution in Italy, nothing wrong in the menu

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So just write it like the first two words of your reply, then.
