TIME TO BUST UP A LOT OF CORPORATIONS!

Cadbury's went downhill after Modelez bought them - the Creme Eggs finally got smaller, for a start.

As a local Hershey resident, that would be horrible, but also the Milton Hershey School trust fund owns a controlling share in the company (also Hershey Park and resorts) and would have to vote for it. There have been other takeover bids in the past that have failed because of the ownership structure.

Which is why Milton Hershey made it this way.

Well there’s really no way to make Hershey‘s any worse.

Mondelez have done it with every other chocolate brand they own.

For the last few decades every couple of years they take a small % of the coco and replace it with more corn syrup and food coloring, making the chocolate cheaper to produce. It's a slow process, so you don't really taste the difference from one year to the next, but the Hershey of 2024 tastes nothing like the early 90s stuff did.

Corporations and private equity groups. When everyone is owned by the same companies they no longer compete and just rent seek.

Blackrock needs to burn.

The real bummer is I've been looking up who owns who. Berkshire Hathaway (a soulless corporation) owns Sees. It one of the last bastages of decent dark chocolate for me and a place that has traditionally hire older people.

Funny you mention that! My lady and I walked our dog yesterday and stopped in at Sees for some Dark Bordeauxs and dark Marzipan. They (as usual) gave us samples. My lady LOVED the Almond chew. I know what's going in her Xmas stocking now. ALSO try their peanut brittle!
