The problem with these AI morons is that they ignore that automation =/= AI. My workplace has long had email templates for order confirmations, invoices and such automated through their ERP system. And that ERP system is decades old. We can also send another copy of those with the click of a button. A bit more work would be creating a procedural system rather than a template system, but still no need for AI.

I'd say three quarters of the AI "solutions" I get pushed at me for work simply don't use AI (they've just built their own middleman code between existing open source applications) and the ones that do use it simply don't work worth a damn and they're looking for people to fool into paying to beta test.

Ai companies are the perfect example of seeing nails everywhere when you only have a hammer. AI is extremely processor-heavy and changeable, so using it for something that can just as easily be done with existing non-AI automation systems.
On a busy day I send maybe 1000 words worth of emails in a day, usually spread across a dozen or so external ones and a bunch of internal back-and-forths that are maybe 2 sentences.

I don't know for sure but I wonder if when non–technical people gush about how useful AI is it's because they never learned to set up automation in the past and now AI can approximate automation for them, albeit at incredible cost
To use your email template examples, if somebody has no idea how to create a proper automated template email they can still ask AI "send an invoice"

I've noticed an increase in ads using blatantly copyrighted work - two examples I ran into recently were one using the Pepe Silvia screenshot from IASIP, and another that used AI to use Stargates in advertisements for Kidde equipment (among other things, they make fire extinguishers), even using an AI-generated image of Richard Dean Anderson's portrayal of Colonel O'Neill from SG-1. Neither, I assume, is legal.

Not... necessarily. That is, it doesn't necessarily have to be non-commercial to be considered fair use. There are several factors, and it's the balance of those factors (and the judge's mood) that decides it. That's under USA law, anyway.

you can´t run a printing service printing this picture as a pre option (at least whit out an agreement between the owner of the picture and the printing company).

I recently had to submit a written statement about something upsetting that happened at work. I was struggling with being overly wordy and disorganized about it because I was upset. I fed the mess into a LLM with the instruction to organize and reduce wordiness, with specific instructions that full sentences were not necessary and to pretend it was writing a telegram. What I got was significantly closer to the end result I needed.

I take way too long proofreading and second guessing whatever I wrote in the email before sending it. This year has been ok, but the 2 years previous my life was totally fucked by having to manage my dad's care and it was a lot of emails, some days I spent 5-8 hours just sending emails, texts, phone calls and talking to various care workers, doctors, scheduling appointments, dealing with dozens of people in his life. It was a lot of intense, high stakes labour at 0$ per hour. Emails can be hard.

Not to sound insensitive, but mental health and AI just sounds like people hiding behind the elderly, disabled, and such when defending internet thermostats and the like. I don't doubt these things make their lives easier but it's not like they're marketed as elderly assistance, that's just a happy byproduct. Same with AI e-mail assistance, I guarantee none of the AI giants had the well-being of people who struggle with mental health in mind when implementing it.

Blue collar worker here. Some of us know that this isn't user-driven demand, instead demand manufactured by both the AI developers and the powers that be in a corporation, which would like to fire everyone and replace then with programming if they could.
Emails suck, but some of us know they're not why AI is infiltrating your desk job. We're actually more alike than they are, even if I have no idea how the internet works. Apes together strong.

My issue with email is I get one approximately every 45 seconds and maybe 70% require responses. Now if my job was responding to emails that’d be fine but my calendar is usually booked solid. So yes getting to send emails would be fun and easy but the case is I need to sort related topics across 500 unread emails to bring disjointed conversations and people together in harmony. As a marathon runner - my emails are more challenging than running 26 miles.
