America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and destroy our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. - Abraham Lincoln

Not to mention we all kinda saw him going this way. He never really wanted neutrality or fairness. He just wanted to platform and sanewash the neo-fascists who express views similar to his apartheid parents.

Is he there so that the shooter will hit him instead? Tempting.

There are loads of politically neutral stances that make you untrustworthy. You don't both sides when one side are white supremists, christian nationalists, or literal neo-nazis.

A friend once told me, there are no neo nazis, they’re just nazis.

being a neutral platform isnt bad on its own, allowing the spreading of straight up lies and missinformation however is.

Has this person been checked for aphasia ? He appears to say and write things but I am unconvinced he grasps their meaning.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Most people online that rant about free speech sooner or later reveal themselves to be fascists. It's a common tactic and was also emplayed by the Nazis. They act as if they care about democractic values to undermine them.

These twatwaffles need their own term. Like "petulant children" doesn't cut it. These fuckers have upped the stakes of petulance

Don't worry, give it a few months and Trump will be slagging-him-off big style.

Isn't that nerd from The Simpsons a good person? Also, Nelson has leagues more humanity than Trump does.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Humanity, shit, Nelson is downright cultured at times. I don't see trump going out to pick huckleberries.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Its funny because that Simpsons joke is an homage to an old looney toons where a getsdog has a little toady dog. Humans never change.

That's an insult to both nelson and martin. They've both actually had moments being decent people.

Imo COVID fucked a lot of people up. Some more than others. Many rich people REALLY hated it because then they couldn't do their favorite thing, bossing around the under classes. Turns out that's really what rich people actually want. Elan is not used to being told no. He lost money during COVID, then in CA tunnels, the cyber truck, bought Twitter on a bet and losing at that. Pre COVID everybody loved the man. I am guessing he's desperate, so hooking his future to Trump and therefore Putin.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

When California told him he can't just have the Tesla factories continue running while thousands of people died from Covid.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

he never had one in the first place.

He was born into it. His family exploited and profited off of apartheid. He just hid his nazi power level til he was wealthy enough for it to apparently not matter anymore

Yeah. The real question is when he lost the facade. In the UK, news media used to laud him as the inventor genius persona he quirked up for himself. Now it's dead and he's a laughing stock in all corners.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Right after the weed smoking thing. I think he figured he could do no wrong after that and let the mask slip. I'm just glad public opinion is proving him wrong, looked a little dicey for a while.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think everywhere had that image, but it started to slide downhill pretty quickly when he accused that bloke trying to save the kids in the cave of being a pedo. He's still definitely got his fans, but it's a lot fewer than it once was. He went from people saying he was the Real Life Tony Stark to being "that moron who turned 44bn into 9bn and ruined Twitter" (ruined twitter is a big effort in reality)

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I think he lost it when he decided to buy Twitter.

Was forced to buy

After he decided to buy it.

This man believes he's a great thinker of our time. He's also been upset that people don't call him Meme Maestro and thinks X is a *really* cool name.

2 years ago | Likes 620 Dislikes 4

He is an idiot. I mean that in the literal term. He's not intelligent at all. He pretends to be and puts up a good front, but he isn't intelligent whatsoever.

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

So cool that he tried to change paypals name to X back when he own a part of it

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he also apparently has a micropeen

In all fairness this is true of every libertarian silicon valley tech bro I've ever known. He just happens to be the most famous one out there.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is he a homeschool kid?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See Twitter worked because people would tweet.

What the fuck do you do for x? People xer? People sexer?.. people exon, exoff, exer, tex, tix, twix, nix, qwex/qwix?

I have no idea what he thinks the verb version of the noun, Twitter, would be for 'X' .. ridiculously daft, moronically dumb, fucking braindead name for Twitter. (And I know the verb of Twitter should technically be Tweeter, like the high pitch speakers)

Name change alone probably cost the company a couple billion in value

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ok, "X" WOULD be a 'cool' name for something... but not his idea to rename PayPal or Twitter...THAT is just stupid.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to think that like X and Z were the best letters for edgy wizard characters but then I turned 13.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait til you find out he wants to be called "Dark MAGA" now, like he thinks he's fucking Batman or something

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just remember. X is just the base of the nazi swastika without the tips!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He is a really weird guy he has multiple children. NONE of them seem to like him or talk to him that are older. He fired people by email at Twitter. He wants to move because he was mad Gavin Newsom for a law outing trans people. And doesn't acknowledge the existance of a trans child he has. The man is quite possibly the largest piece of shit on the planet. And bought Twitter it seems like to do nothing other than shit post and pretend he is popular.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's mentally 9 years old.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

His obsession with memes drives me nuts more than anything else. Ok, you find crap and repost it. That's a great way to kill an afternoon; it's not something to put on your resume. And it's not something that makes you look smart or clever, you're not actually coming up with any of it.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Also his memes are boomer-tier and are bland af.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

LET THAT SINK IN HAHAHAHAJAJAB GET IT?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good news for him, I now call it Xchan.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

4chan’s x board was great though. :(

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

it's still there

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah but I haven’t gone to 4chan since Moot sold it. I go to its subreddit thought and reread all of the good posts/greentexts.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I always get so excited when I see x.com, until I click the link and it's not XCOM.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Why couldn't firaxis just sue him over the name xcom

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Technically, it would be their parent company's parent company that should. Go get him, Take-Two!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We talk about a "man" that wanted the tesla model names to be "S", "E", "X" and "Y" But ford brought out a Model E... so ol musky had to call it model "3".
He is nothing more than an edgy teenager with too much money and drugs and no real friends.

2 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 0

For real? Thats interesting...naming the models was back when he was liked by liberals and before he went off the political rails.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget his rocket which is literally the BFR 9000. The "Big Falcon Rocket". Of course, Bezos' rocket looks exactly like a penis (and though it's not as long as eLon's, it's fat like a beer can).

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That awkward design meeting where bezos wanted it a certain shape. “Dude?Should I tell him it looks like a huge cock?” “Your funeral mate!”

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

oh wow that is hilarious, weird & sad

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So-... Was Ford trolling him or?

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

It probably wasn't even intentional.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or maybe calling your electric Mustang an E is just the lowest hanging fruit...

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I would like to clarify that my use of the word "man" in this context meant something more akin to "alleged human".

2 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 0

We haven't seen his genitals. Could be trans.

Apparently not functional enough. Even with billions of dollars he can't keep a woman happy enough to stick around.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He looks like a guy who's gotta pop a blue pill tbh.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He did a lot to enable the far right. Bringing back a lot of banned neo nazis.

2 years ago | Likes 294 Dislikes 3

Crimethinc was banned and never reinstated

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He views the far right as centrist.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Nah, he views the far right as the way correct.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Twitter censorship did a lot for the far right. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Censorship never works, unless you’re North Korea. It (in their minds, not mine) “proves” they’re correct and further entrenches idiots, while helping to recruit new members. “See?!?! We absolutely ARE under attack by the liberal media!” It’s like drone strikes creating more terrorists than they kill. This shit just doesn’t work. What does work, is allowing idiots to voice stupid opinions

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 31

And then holding them up to the light of truth, which burns them like sunlight does vampires

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 21

Confidently, scientifically incorrect. Deplatforming works.

I read through the abstract of both of these papers you've linked. Neither seems to make any statement about the link between banning users and a causally related reduction in Nazi beliefs or number of Nazis. According to how I read them, they are claiming that banning Nazis reduces their online activity, which is obviously true.

I think what a lot of proponents of free speech would argue, and what the original comment was arguing, is that banning Nazis doesn't make them give up their beliefs.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Driving them away from larger sites makes recruitment for hate groups dramatically more difficult, thereby limiting the spread of their fascist bullshit.

So, no shit it's not changing minds, the point is to dramatically reduce their ability to recruit and, through that, their ability to harm people. And if they can't get a steady influx of new recruits, dealing with the existing Nazi core in one way or another becomes a lot easier.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Couldn't you make the argument that by not changing minds, we are actually just sweeping shit under the rug for future generations? Nazis will still have kids and raise them. Its the cultural equivalent of what we do with global warming: just leave it for our kids!

Let's just deal with the issue like adults and identify and convert the Nazis, or, failing that, keep them out of positions of real power. See Darryl Davis for example: If a black man can convert KKK members, we can do it too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Look around

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 17

That's not the own you think it is, more of an own-goal. See, I was on Twitter before Musk, and I saw it get worse as he campaigned to get more hate back on the platform. Because deplatforming them made the site suck less, you see. So when he replatformed them, it got worse again.

Amazing how that works.

But no, I'm sure your gut reaction to "look[ing] around" is just as valid as multiple scientific studies. Totally.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That (looking on Twitter) is not what I meant by look around, I meant look at what’s happening. Nazis matching all over. These studies suffer from confirmation bias. They say, “taking bad people off Twitter makes less bad people on Twitter” ignoring the fact that Twitter isn’t the only place people can go. There are tons of other sites and it’s not reducing racism, it’s driving it further underground which only makes it more difficult to monitor and fight
