A lot of Elons wealth comes from US government contracts (and subsidies) and for a lot of the ones involving Space X at least, they are the best option in terms of performance.
So a pragmatic president would not interfere with those, as it would hurt America.

The point is to create a rift and infighting between them, he likely won't throw away someone with Musk backing, but i wouldn't be surprised if he tries to publicly humiliate Musk and try to keep him away from power as he could see him as a danger to his position.
