Currently if you are switching in to #tmobile you can get up to I think it was $750 off of your phone BUT only if you are a new customer.

What happened to customer appreciation? Its like they actually want you to go elsewhere

This Isn't a new problem and its a problem with all 4 major carriers in the U.S. I'm just getting tired of it and I know I'm not the only one

Call the retention department, they work wonders

I have sprint ehh it sucks kinda, what other companies do y’all recommend

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked for Sprint for a good 7 years. This was the number 1 complaint I’ve heard. Big reason why I quit too

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sprint won’t give me pokecoins cause I’m not a new customer, even though I haven’t missed a bill in over 6 years

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having sold cellphones before, and worked support for a cable company, they are betting on laziness. For many it is too much of a hassle.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm on Google's Project Fi. They just changed my plan that they will no longer require me to prepay my data and they even credited me 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 $10. I use less than a gig of data a month and my plan typically comes to a whopping $28/month, taxes and fees included.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same with cable.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately with cable though you usually only get one "option" in an area

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a pretty basic tenant of business success that retaining existing customers is more important than getting new customers.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just say you're switching.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So, you didn’t know the details of the contract when you signed up?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No contract except on the phones. The problem is new customers get treated better then existing ones in the hardware department

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Preach!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. Same deal, if you renew a lease companies often jack the rent up. They know people will deal with it to not stress over moving.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We have the same problem here in italy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"It is 10 times more expensive to sign a new customer than to keep an existing one" Ryan- The office

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

PSA Google's 'Project Fi' is pretty good. Plus it works outside of the country without roaming data.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Upvoting you. I used to pay $75/month with T-mobile for Unlimited Talk/Text and 1 GB of data. Now pay only $28/month for the same deal.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seconding Google Fi. Selection is very limited, but the service overall has been great. Had them for a year now, only pay for what you use.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was say, the only place I can say I HAVE had issues with service is in WY, but I also had issues there with other carriers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Call them and say you want the new member package deal or you'll leave. 8/10 it worked for my husband and I and we got the discounted deal.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If we didn't get it, we switched

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Might try that but unfortunately we can't really switch

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That sucks. Best of luck to you guys!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Switched over to Google Fi from Sprint two weeks ago cause my two year deal from switching from AT&T was ending. Wasn't going to pay more.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I use to much data for Google Fi I just checked it out also it costs more then current unlimited plan as well but glad its helped you :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. You pay for only up to 6gb a data month now. Anything above that is free. Speed doesn't get throttled until you go over 15gb.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am paying $167 for 7 lines with unlimited talk/text + 4GB/line of data (taxes and fees included) and i have free netflix

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Single line, $10 a gb up to 6gb. Free after 6. I auto pay for 3gb a month. Bill is $90 a month with phone lease. Don't use data? Refunded.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With 7 lines tho, the math might work better for what you already have.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know what grinds my gears? People that say costomer not customer.

8 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 15

You know what grinds my gears? This meme.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I went back to check OP's spelling.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s a costom spelling

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

This is under appreciated.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Onder

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cable companies do the same shit. I'm about to break up with Directv because my bill is $120 after nine years, and when I've talked to >

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

< their "customer loyalty" dept, they just offer 3 months of HBO or NFL network "free", then try charging me for it after a month.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ever heard of Kodi?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Comcast changes their plan names, then slowly raises rates. I changed to a current plan name and went from $75 ->$40 now, $55 after a year.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

We pay $11/month, but that was a deal for AT&T employees which my dad was before his passing. So now no company can offer better.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you are married or have a housemate, cancel service and schedule new service under the other person's name. Repeat every 2 years.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm actually incredibly happy with t mobile. Best service we've ever had and the perks of being a top member are spot on

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I am paying $167 for 7 lines with unlimited talk/text + 4GB/line of data (taxes and fees included) and i have free netflix

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We like a lot of what Tmo offers (SIM cards being a big part) even though we don't even have service at our house but the deals are a pain

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It used to be that you got a huge discount on the price of the phone. Now, eff ‘em.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah that was cause they subsidized the phones if you signed a 2 year agreement but the FCC I believe it was didn't part of that. I guess 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Knowing what you are spending money on is more important then saving money in this case 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Manufacturers like Apple and Samsung dictate what kinds of offers T-Mobile is allowed to offer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Switched from at&t after 15 years because they kept hiking up my bill

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is customer appropriation. I think you meant appreciation.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Thanks I didn't notice it I shall correct it

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You got your promo when you signed up.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And so did existing customers at that point as well

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, that's what I was saying. New customers usually get a promo, and every customer was a new customer once.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they're already getting your money. they want other people to give them money too. want a discount? tell them you're switching services.

8 years ago | Likes 564 Dislikes 3

This is so true. Ask for your account number thevoffers will flood in because this tells them you are taking you number to another company

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That literally does nothing. At most you'd have to call to a call center to get them to bite. Store would just laugh at you

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Be prepared to actually follow through on it, as well. Cellular companies are shit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I tell Straight Talk this every few months when they double charge me or when I buy a plan, add it, then my service goes off the next day ->

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And I find out it was added to someone else's service by accident on their end & they refuse to fix it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Would it be unacceptable to make a divorced parents joke?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Don't tell it we'd only get it about 50% of the time

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work CSR for T-Mobile, if you’re a long time cust 9 times out of 10 you’re getting a better deal that what we can offer you.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Amen. My grandfathered plan of 8 years is about 20% cheaper then the same plan bought today.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

When ATT first came into the area Cox had a promotion for customers who tried ATT and were switching back to Cox.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Father said to wife “ god on my unlimited plan” went to switch, & they offered a lot of discounts. Do this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Omnipresent beings prob'ly get *great* reception...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This works

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

And alternate providers every 2 years

8 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 2

I don't know about US but here: just buy a good router yourself and only pay dor the providers and config changes

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 38

He's talking about mobile cellular phone service.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Tell him to stop.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Not my circus.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm in Norway, so a bit different, but I changed mobile provider 3 or 4 times last year. Saved a lot of cash

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

In US most phones are 2 year contracts, which you will have to pay in full if you want out

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Switch to one of the major providers sub providers. Likely no contract and way cheaper.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it really uncommon to buy the phone by itself at a set price in the us?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yes. Not only is it uncommon but the phone itself is only compatible with maybe 1/3 of the carriers.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Most providers have a retention department. Ask for them, they're usually able to provide those same discounts to keep existing customers.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

As someone who used to work customer service for verizon: no, customer service WAS retention. And the sales applied to new LINES. Not new 1/

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

customers. Anyone was eligible with a new line of service. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dude...tmobile tuesdays

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude how does that help with getting a new phone? Also most the stuff offered now is coupons to places not even in our area

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not going to lie. I don't have tmobile

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tmobile Tuesday is nice though on the occasion there is actually something we do have access to

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't forget any of the main stuff now though is offered to everyone on twitter not just tmobile customers also I'm the only one in my 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Family with a twitter account so 2 out of the 3 of us don't even have access to the stuff given away on twitter

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your point is very valid. I have att so I feel your pain exactly. We get shit for recycling phones.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't have to be a new customer for T-mobiles offer. Just FYI. Source: I work for T-mobile

8 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

Also, T-Mobile shows customer appreciation every week on T-Mobile Tuesday: free movie tickets, coupons for free food, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Let's be honest though, it started off great, and aside from a free movie rental from time to time it's a coupon app

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

True. I have no complaints with T-Mobile, though. I haven't paid full price for a new phone in years.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah I love t-mobile

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@OP just JUMP your old phone, and get a new one each year. U end up only paying a fraction the value of the phone. Been doing it 4 yrs now.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Explain plz

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you have to pay off the phone you've been paying monthly on for the last 18 months.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You pay for your phone for 18months instead of 24 months and get the option to jump to a new phone and return the one you have. If you dont

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do I get the deal without being a new customer?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Call customer care. 1)stores don't give a shit. 2) there's literally no incentive for them

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Not really, stores don’t have any power to make those decisions. And people constantly ask why we can’t do it. It’s fucking annoying.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They work on commission, they 100% give a shit and have are tons of incentive

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Upgrades pay little to nothing and generally hurt all of your other numbers so there's practically more of an incentive to not help

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's just flat not true

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you/have you worked in this environment? If you worked on commission, why would you spend an hour to get an exception for an upgrade

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ive worked in cell phones for ten years, at 3 different companies. At ALL of them, upgrades were bread and butter, and only people 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For the $750 off a new Samsung S8 S8+ and Note 8? We checked with out store here and it said in the fine print you have to bring a line 1/

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Just wait till they have another bogo offer. I mean from aug to december they literaly ran the same promo for new and existing customers.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Over and be a new costomer also both the reps said same thing. If you can be an existing costomer and get that on an existing line that 2/

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

You don't have to be a new customer for the current BOGO, but they are requiring that you port in a number from another carrier.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Primarily because people would add lines they didn't need and then cancel them after they got the rebate card. This forced Tmobile to do 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this type of with porting in. I work for T-Mobile and I don't agree with the way they are running the BOGOs, we are hoping it changes too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would be great. My mom has been stuck with a LG K7 but none of the flagships have been reasonably priced 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They normally run some decent deals during the holidays.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just buy a used 1-3yo flagship phone on Ebay. You'll get it for a fraction of its original price and it will be a lot better than the K7.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No service does decent free phones any more, unless you are coming from another service provider. If they say they will, theyre lying

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Make sure you're at a corporate T-Mo location.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We are

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Customer. Not a costumer.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Phones auto correct. I have been having to correct that on this post a lot

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's so crazy to me that people think they're going to free phones these days... Places like T-Mobile, and ATT sell SERVICE, they 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't manufacture phones, or control the price of them. When they give that stuff away, they take a hit. Ask for free accessories, instead

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus, think about the capabilities of the devices you're talking about here. You're not asking for a free $150 junker, you're demanding 3/4

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A top of the line $850 tiny computer/camera. I've bought cars for less than that. My RENT is less than that. Should I ask my landlord 4/5

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For a free month, since I'm such a good tenant?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Told Verizon I was unhappy with my plan and Sprint had better phones/deals. They doubled my data plan for no extra $.

8 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 1

The best you can do is check in yearly on plans. New plans come out all the time. It likely wasn’t a special deal just a better plan for you

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Verizon kept me on an old plan paying more. I actually went to them about my bill THEN they told me I can change to unlimited for no extra.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Be careful with Verizon. I had a monthly discount for a product I was promised but wasn't available any more. Fast forward one year (1)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And my bill went up although my contract was for two years. I called to find out why the hell and they said the promotion they gave me (2)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Expired within a year. Anyway I threatened to leave, they didn't care. So I did and my husband got an account for the price I had before.(3)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm with Sprint BECAUSE I have no limit on my data...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This works. Just go to your cell phone provider and tell them you're unhappy and might switch companies. Watch the ass kissing begin!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Usually works with the service plan not as much with the devices anymore though unfortunately

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Because the providers don’t own the devices. It used to be that they bought phones and could give them away but now phones are $800-$1000

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Back then, phones were $400-700, so it's not a huge leap.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes but by giving you a free phone they charged about double for the line access and it was a 2 year contract the made their money back. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They still do those plans, too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The more spendy phones were anywhere from $100-$200

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
