Please, please help save my dog.

UPDATE! OTTO WAS PUT UP A MONTH AGO. HE WAS ADOPTED TOO!!!!

My baby was adopted. I am very sad to say that he was actually put up for adoption a month ago, BUT he happily has already found a new home! Thank you EVERYONE! The little dude!

Here's the man of the hour, my dog Otto. He was technically my Dad and his wife's dog, but they just never gave him enough time or attention, and in the end only added to their indifference towards him...

They dropped him off at the pound.

They just called me to let me know they dropped him off at the pound sometime this past week. No warning, no looking for a home for him themselves. At least give me the chance to find a home for him first, you know? They didn't do their research, they left him at a shelter with a 30% kill rate.

This pic was made by me to warn my friends of how much I was going to post about him when I visited my dad one holiday. Everyone knew I loved this dog!

The Early Years:

Here's an awkward twins picture from early on in our friendship, and I think it was around here that we discovered we have this awkward bond that can only be described as goofy. I love this dog more than any other animal. I don't get to see him often, since my dad lives a thousand miles away, but he is the part of visiting my dad's house I look forward to the most. He is the one animal on earth I actually miss when I'm away from him... and I can't bear to even think about losing him to euthanization.

He's quite dashing, you know.

The best thing for my super handsome little Otto would be to be adopted into a loving home forever. He's only 5 years old; he's not done here on earth, not by a long shot. He was actually picked up at a Wolf Rescue in New Mexico only a year into his life. I wish they had the heart to drop him back off at a rescue again.

Here's a classic shot of my boy. Just give him some good ol love and attention, and he'll make your day over and over and over again, every single day.

If someone feels that they can't be a momma or poppa forever, can anyone take care of him for just one and a half years? I have 3 more semesters of college and internships until I'm released into the real world. College living doesn't allow the type of home, time, or budget to care for him (I thought he was safe in my dad's home since he had ALL of those things). I will be the best momma ever once I have my degree in hand. If I'm somehow not able to, I will personally come get him from your home and find a forever home for him myself.

He's worth it.

Here's a little more on his character. He won't even look at the camera when you try to take pictures with him. He's all about focusing on *you*, and loving you back, 24/7. He's such a great dog. If you need a dog to hang out with, have adventures with, and just love, this is the guy for you.

He loves love.

I mentioned he was cuddly, right? He is an absolute cuddle monster, and his aim in life is to be as close as possible to you, as much as possible.

I think it has to do with the fact that he was a shelter dog at a wolf rescue. Must've been some relief when some people came and rescued him, and he's been indebted to them ever since. I think he pays back with cuddles and kisses.

Ignore the sarcasm in my face, because this picture is to show that he does have above average needs. He is an adventure fiend, born and raised hiking the mountains of New Mexico, and will follow you into the sunset.

He's a goof.

His favorite thing to do is to be awkward and goofy. I swear it's his way to get into your heart. All he needs is food, love, and love.

No really, he's got a sense or humor, this one.

Did I mention how awkward and goofy he is? Really, he's not the kind of dog you see every day.

These pics are just some shots I've taken, just to show you how much I adore him. He's my little buddy, and I cannot allow him to sit in the pound and face the possibility of getting killed.

I am so inspired by him, and can't wait to be able to hang out with him every day and weekend, and show him as many good times as I can. Here's one of the first shots I took with a toy camera; I chose to take some pics of him. My first ever try at a double exposure....not that great, I know.

It hurts me to know he's at a pound. Just miles away from a no-kill shelter. No warning for me. No attempt to find a home for him himself.

Here he is being the flirty ladies' man he is. He's actually a man's man, too. Truly a loving guy.

I wish I could cuddle with him now! He's probably so scared.

I'm really worried for him. Is he going to find a loving home? Or just be stuck in the pound? Or worse yet, will he be killed? My dad just didn't care enough anymore, but I do, and am holding onto hope someone else will, too.

Here's a good shot. Just to let you know, he's really active and adventurous. He's not the sort of animal you can leave at home alone all day. If he gets scared you're not coming back, he climbs trees or the fence, he goes over the fence, and he looks for you. That's why I can't take care of him for three semesters, until I graduate.
That being said, he is also very aware of people's intentions and intruders, and will protect you until the death if you are in danger.

So please... we're begging ya.

If you're interested in helping adopt him please message me. He's in the Rio Rancho Animal Control Shelter, if he's still alive. I am going to call tomorrow to see if he's still there just to make sure, but I need to get this out there as soon as possible.

And no, this is not a Karma post. I created a whole separate account JUST to post this. I ask that you send my boy to the front page to send him to a loving home, that is all. I am poor, I am powerless, I am a college student working my ass off to get a degree.

I hope there's someone out there who can care and love for him. I love him so much, and know he will bring you joy, because he's special, he's worth it.
