Just a taste of some of my life

My camper and truck on a weekend trip without the trailer.

OOPS! This album was meant for one person who was asking about my life. I didn't mean to submit it publicly. It makes more sense in the context of that conversation. Some important details to add:

-The camper is my home. I do not have a house or apartment. My physical address is a mail forwarding service that scans or forwards mail for me.

-I do not (yet) make my living by making the jewelry and stuff further down in the post. I have a position with a wonderful, flexible company in a big city. I work from wherever I want, and they pay me a rate that would be kinda tight living in a big city, but is very livable most other places. Win, win!

-Also yes, I parked like an asshole in this first picture. I'd been driving for a couple hours, and really had to pee. This was at a mostly empty rest stop in Delaware. I'm usually much more of a stickler for parking, but not pissing my pants took priority.

By far, the most complex thing in the trailer is the battery/electrical system. It incorporates solar charging, a large battery bank, an inverter to convert the battery DC power to usable household AC power, and tons of safety and monitoring equipment to make sure everything is safe and functioning properly. This cabinet took a loooong time to lay out and wire.

Air suspension bracket. It's not supposed to have that bend.

Bracket after repair. We straightened it (mostly) and welded in supports. It hasn't bent any more since.

The CNC router (Carvey) I won at Maker Faire. It's an amazing machine, but kinda big for my shop. Still, it's normally $2500, so I didn't say no.

Solar panels being installed on trailer. I designed the diamond plate panels attaching them to the roof. I had them cut and bent to spec for me, and I did the final drilling/cutting on them.

I made a bunch of jewelry out of bullet casings for a while. I had a fairly active etsy shop going until I had to pack up my shop. I plan on getting back into it.

Copper and brass are really fun to work with. They solder easily and polish beautifully. I like the bullet casings because they're a cool looking/iconic object that is fun to work with, and which I can collect large quantities of for basically free.

The bullet cross was my signature item. I still get requests for these. Once the shop is more together, I'll probably start making more. No particular message behind this other than I thought it would be a cool design.

Fun and fairly easy braided copper bangle. Also for Mom.

I worked on a couple film sets making props. This was a behemoth of a prop for a video game commercial. The whole thing can be rolled around on the desk, and it has lots of functioning fans and lights embedded in it.

That pile of junk was supposed to be a robot that's been disassembled, but keeps trying to move. It sort of twitches and rocks in a couple ways on the ground.

Here's where the cables from the robot lead. Me and 2 other guys manned these controls and puppeted the robot for the shoot. It was janky, but it worked.

I took a bronze casting class in college, and this was one of my sculptures. It's a character from a film that I never ended up making called "World War Cute"

I've got a rubber duck that I got at target forever ago that really like the design of, so it's become my default shape for experimenting with materials. Here's a stack of intersecting ceramic ducks I made in high school.

And of course, a bronze duck I made in that casting class. This image is whats on my business card, and the duck has become my logo.
