Okay, maybe not 100% because of the game, but it was certainly the straw that broke the camel's back. My Ex is a fairly abusive person. On her good days, she's fine. But if she gets hungry, sleepy, tired, hot, or otherwise uncomfortable even in the slightest way she becomes a being of pure, unfiltered rage.

While angry, she will rant; not for a period of time that a reasonable person might rant. Not twenty minutes, not an hour, she will rant every waking moment for DAYS. She will literally wake up from sleeping start yelling about the thing she's angry about then fall back asleep again.

If I don't engage her in her ranting, she will become more aggressive; pulling out name calling, threats, and has multiple times hit me just to provoke a reaction.

I went to visit my parents a few weeks ago because I couldn't handle the rage and I needed a break. The plan, up til a couple days ago was that I would finish working on the latest game update here, and work with her on her anger issues from a distance.

To be fair to her; she has a mental illness that is a root cause of her anger. While she insists that she is ultimately not responsible for anything she does while angry because "you can't blame someone for having an illness", I think you also have to consider the fact that her not being responsible doesn't make the abuse less painful.

Additionally, not being "allowed" to hold her responsible for her actions, in a way makes it even worse. She can call me every nasty name under the sun and slap me silly, but once she's calm again she expects me to just hit the reset button and pretend none of it ever happened.

While over at my parents, Pokemon Go released. Being amazingly overweight, I figured I would start to get more exercise by playing exclusively by walking. Several days into my new routine, I get home from a walk to find that she had sent me some messages on Facebook.

I let her know that I just got back from a walk; which is why I was slow to reply, and suddenly she goes berserk. Apparently, going on a walk makes me the most horrible person to ever live because *she* likes going for walks, and we hadn't gone for a walk together in a while because it had been raining frequently and our area's drainage is terrible so we get giant puddles and mosquitoes.

Since I wasn't there in person to attack, and I guess sending insults over text isn't as satisfying, she went onto youtube and started leaving comments on my videos to "warn" everyone about how terrible a person I am.

Just because I went for a walk.

I told her I'm not coming back. I put my phone on mute, and went to bed. The next morning she has the nerve to tell me that she deleted the comments and that she "needs" me, and that I "need" to come home to her.

No apology. She just "needs" me. Because she always needs me when I'm upset with her. How much easier her life is with me supporting her doesn't even cross her mind once when she's the one angry with me.

Since then, she's been texting me frequently, alternating between telling me how much I need to come back, to screaming about how unfair it is for me to leave her over "something she can't control."

I don't think I can trust her though. After trying to attack my reputation over something as innocuous as taking a walk. I just can't help but imagine what greater heights she might go to for satisfaction next time she decides to take her rage out on me.

Uhm... so... cat tax...?

Front page edit: A couple people have asked what my youtube channel is, and I'm not sure how many more might want to also know. It's not really that great, but if you are curious, it is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/novacorponline

Yep. You need to break up. Don't give in. Don't go back.

It's not your job to make someone better when they don't care enough to make themselves better. You Keep walkin!!

She sounds very selfish. Hope you find someone who isn't self absorbed.

I have a friend blaming all his social mistakes and daily passiveness on numerous symptoms his diagnoses [may] cause. Unless an illness 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

literally hijacks all higher cognitive functions and strips you of free will you are guilty for your actions despite your mental issues. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You need to get out and stay out. She needs real psychological help but you need to look after yourself.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a person with a slew of mental illness, abuse cannot be excused just because your brain is fucked. Abuse is abuse. Period.

Amen!

I dont get how she can claim she is not responsible, even if she has an illness, it makes her responsible

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a female, my opinion is that Your ex is highly dangerous. Dont look back. Never go back.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I want to know what's in your favor for dating this monster.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The whole thing should be red.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I went with blue because it probably shouldn't have come down to something involving a game for me to realize she's too abusive.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

stay gone, keep walking, catch some monsters

10 years ago | Likes 196 Dislikes 0

I ve had a few relationships that werent fit for human consumption. Stay gone and keep walking is sage advice

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds like he already caught one.

But he gave it up to Professor Willow

As somebody with a mental illness: This is no way to deal with it and she is irresponsible and abusive. Leave her. She will suck you out (1)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and then pass on to the next. And she will never change, at least not for or because of you. That sounds harsh but it's the truth. (2)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone with actual anger management dissorders coupled with anxiety dissorders, you are doing the right thing @op it is not your job 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

To fix her or to help her. She needs to find her own help with a professional and she needs to get on meds.2/2

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Restraining order. Don't try to convince yourself that you can "help" her. It's not worth the grief.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I should get a RO. It really ISN'T worth the grief and mental strain trying to 'help' someone, which is what I've been trying to do.. :/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Initiate Zero Contact Protocol. Never look back, never surrender!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You can't help someone that won't help herself, keep walking buddy

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't go back. She'll just drag you down. However, it may be a good idea to give her one explanation, and then never look back. She might /2

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

have a higher chance of not bothering you any more then.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This. Write a 20 page paper citing what she's done since you've been together. Tell her to choose whichever reason for why you left.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't think that needs any explanation. Especially not more than a 'You have been horrible and I don't want you in my life.'.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Get out. Being alone (not necessarily lonely) is better than what you're having to put up with.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Let me guess...BPD?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds like my ex. Be glad to be rid of her, life will be great again

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was gonna come in here and gently mock you, but instead I think I'ma wind up tossing you a buck or three on patreon. Decent concept.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thanks.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hey man, unless she's willing to get herself some help you don't need to put up with that shit. You need to take care of yourself, too

10 years ago | Likes 660 Dislikes 1

Even if she is trying to get help, you need to take care of you. Your health (mental and physical) is ultimately more important.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is what I would say. She's clearly suffering from an untreated mental illness and needs to seek help.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I need someone to make the jp4 gif where she says RUN!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So true. Maybe you can't 'blame her for being ill', you can blame her for not sorting that illness out.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yeah man

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can't help someone unless they want to be helped, sounds like she's a manipulative cunt looking for a reason to justify her being a cunt

10 years ago | Likes 166 Dislikes 0

Sometimes I wish I was shitty enough that I would use my mental illness as an excuse to be an asshole instead of trying to be a nice person.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I can't help but feel like she's doing this to be manipulative. Seems too focused to just be a general illness.

10 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 0

If you live with her send someone else to get your stuff back don't give her the satisfaction of seeing you again

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Also send people as a group. That way it'll be safer for the people collecting your things

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just focus on "you time" for now. Cut off ties from her. Stay as far away as possible.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It's not your problem anymore. You've left her, don't go back, don't accept her apologies and don't feel bad. Abuse is not okay.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Whether it's a mental illness or not, she isn't entitled to treat you like garbage. But you're entitled to peace and happiness. I see you.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It sounds like its just an excuse.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Good for you dude, make sure you keep the exercise up too! Of course keep the phone muted too. Remember gotta catch 'em all!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of a chick I knew named Star. Was my best bro's GF. Was effin' psycho, like she was bipolar and on her period ALL THE TIME. 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2/? My friend tried to make it work, was dating her for about a year (she'd been perfectly normal B4 they dated but then went a bit yandere)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3/? And then finally decided he couldn't cope with her constant abuse. The day he broke off, she sent ME ~60 emails (School eMail) saying

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Even if she is ill. she is abusing it and being a massive cunt. If she actually is ill, a normal person would be apologetic as fuck for that

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

to my view, @Helakopter hit the nail on the head. not just "this time", but in the past as well -- what kind of treatment is she involved in

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...if she's doing anything at all? because she's well aware that she's doing it, there's no question. if she's not going for any kind of

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...help,then she's just using it as her "power move". you can't fight back or even defend yourself because it "isn't her fault", and so she

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good for you! An illness is not a reason to be abusive. I have 5 brothers and sisters worth mental disorders and they're all nice

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

She was obviously able to control her outbursts for as long as it took to get together with you in the first place

I have SAD, BPD, ADHD, and Depression. I take my pills, I see my therapist, and I don't take my shit out on others.

My husband has Depression, an Irish temper, and ADHD. He takes his pills, kills shit online, and doesn't take it out on others.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

This. As somebody with a mental illness, yes, sometimes I get in states I can't control. But I'm responsible, especially to care for the (1)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

people I hurt and the damage done. And of course, to work that stuff like this happens as little and as mild as possible. I have no (2)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

tolerance for people that are not even trying. (3)

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I feel lucky. When I'm at my worst... I help folks, I do laundry... I curl up under a blanket. It's weird coming out of a fugue/funk with 1+

2/2 a cleaner room. Or you had a break from the bad to get a friend safe. Doesn't... exactly make up for the frequent "I want to die" crap.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I _try_ to compensate it that way. It works like 85% of the time (otherwise even I wouldn't want to be friends with me). But the other (1)
