Got into a dispute with my hvac guy over him being a sleezy turd, he then had to do another repair on our AC unit that his apprentice rebuilt incorrectly after a tree fell and took out our powerlines, which toasted the AC. He had us turn the house onto emergency heat (the AC unit was frosted over) and that he needed to replace the board in the unit. The furnace/heat pump (wat?) doesn't keep up with the thermostat when temps drop below the teens. Part of my house is a log cabin which is poorly insulated. My question is, basically, is there anything he could have done to f*ck with our hvac stuff to make it not be able to keep up with the thermostat setting and make our electric bill crazy high? Sorry if this is unintelligible but hvac is like swahili to me.

Has he fixed the board yet? If all you are running off is heat strips(electric heat) your bill will sky rocket. Message me with ?'s

Yes, he needs to adjust the setting on the heat pump so it's not trying to run when it is too cold out.

so that would potentially speak to the thermostat setting mismatch, not necessarily the sky high electric bill, right? i have no idea if

these two problems are related or not, house was vacant for many years prior to our purchase so no way to compare energy bills

Uh. Lots to say. Not enough room. They are related, just tell him the heat pump shouldn't run below 35 degree F.
