I made a chocolate cake to finish off my day of stress baking. I found this recipe after spending years on a quest to make it perfect chocolate cake. It's fucking amazing, especially with ganache frosting and filling between the layers.

The ganache is simple 8oz semisweet chocolate chips, 8oz heavy cream, 1tbls unsalted butter. Bring the cream to a simmer, pour over chocolate and butter, stir until blended. Let cool to room temp. Voila, chocolate orgasm.

I am home for holidays and needed something to get my mom off my back about my non-cooking abilities, this is going to help, yayy

stress baking is great. my family knows if i'm baking/cooking then back the fuck away cause I'm pissed and letting off steam

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it's even better when you add little chocolate chips in your batter! Crunchy = extra deliciousness.

You need to incorporate dark roast black coffee into the liquid. It adds depth to the chocolate flavor and it will literally make you orgasm

I'm from Edina. I am truly a cake eater, and I approve.

Very close to the one I use, and as someone who despises cake mixes, good job on going from scratch!

Substitute coconut cream for the cream and it's vegan :)

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Instead of water use hot brewed coffee. You will have a more flavorful cake.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

TIL ganache is another word for orgasm.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I love a perfectly smooth ganache. It's like looking into a beautiful mirror that you can eat.

Asking the right question

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I made this recipe last night! It's seriously the best chocolate cake, thanks @OP!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that right there is a fucking good ganache +1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have made this for years. Tastes better the next day.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

same here. I also usually add some extras depending on the mood, dried or fresh fruits, nuts, a little bit of chili.

How can you make a round cake in a 13x9 pan though? Do they mean a 13x9 circular pan?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You either put it in a 13×9 to get one big cake or 2, 9" rounds if you want to layer it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah okay cool

Stress baking? As in your coping method? Well let's just get you down to my house & stress you right the fuck out! Then eat cakes!

I came from r/Creepy and spent far too long trying to be creeped out by this in any way

How much is one cup in decilitres?

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Cool backsplash.

11 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

I like the star sprinkles.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Had to scroll back up. Checks out. Cool backsplash.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Huh.. In this part of the world we call it a splash back. Crazy how nature do that.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Took me a second to remember that there's a second definition of "backsplash".

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ganache is decadent but so easy to make. I'm keeping this one! What kind of filling do you use between the layers?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A cake recipe with less than 400 ingredients? Upvoting and favoriting for later use. Thanks OP.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Pretty much the only reason I am saving this to try.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Makes great cupcakes too

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This recipe seems to be for one rectangular 9x13 pan. Does it make enough for 2 9-inch round cake pans?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes it does because I just made it! Perfect amount of batter for 2 9-inch pans.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! It was a little too grade-school word problem for me to figure out myself. And did you find it to be as perfect a cake as OP says?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cake is cooling. Im going to do ganache in the middle and cream cheese frosting on the outside. Let yeah know how it goes.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yummmm, please do!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Omg it was out standing! Best chocolate cake I've ever eaten! It was perfect!

Turned it from a gif into a webm? 0/10 would not recommend

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The .thing doesn't matter. .jpegs can be gifs.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But .webm isn't supported everywhere!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why? Webm has better quality, smoother and takes less bandwidth

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They can't be embedded on forums and I can't save them to my computer

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why can't you save them? And webm acceptance is the only downside

Yea-big.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oranges

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Okay, here's a gist of cooking knowledge: It's not the measurements that make a difference. It's the proportions.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

True, but if all the measurements aren't made with the same tool (cup, tsp and tbsp in this case) then you can't be sure of the proportions

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

3:3:16

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure if this is a joke or serious? Either way, a cup is a unit of measurement. Europeans, like me, would call it 236.5ml. But good luck!

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

A cup for baking is a half pint, if that helps. I know you guys drink pints ;)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Half an American pint (473ml), Imperial pints (568ml) are bigger.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No pints... we're from the decimal world...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stress baking is awesome. Much better than stress binge drinking. +1

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Agreed baking is good for any type of stress or anxiety

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Here's me suckling on a bottle of vodka. Wishing I was stress baking...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Actually it looks vegan... no eggs either?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This cake has vinegar in it? I didn't know about that

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

It's to make up for the lack of egg, it has a similar chemical reaction

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Red velvet also usually has vinegar in it

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It makes the cake fluffy as fuck. Like those aerated chocolate bars

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Aeros omg

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Baking soda needs an acid to activate. A lot of sweet recipes have weird ingredients.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Baking soda & vinegar is a substitute for baking powder too, I believe

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's actually common in a lot of vegan dessert recipes. My boyfriend is allergic to egg and dairy so we have to make a lot of vegan desserts

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

My boyfriend is actually vegan! If you have any recipes that you love people send them my way. Xx

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

it's to help give the batter more rise in place of folded in meringue or the like for other types of cake.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

wow what happened to that sentence.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's ok. I get it.
