They say it takes courage to live. If I only had that much courage to pull the trigger.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

This has become just a way to collect some internet points.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

I never repost! Even if the fate of humanity depended on it!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Beyond blue for all my fellow australians on here. 1300224636 aussies get sad sometimes too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes, flooding image sharing sites with random hotline information. Excellent use of everyone's time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Your slacktivism will accomplish nothing but giving you an undeserved good feeling.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Turn that depression into anger. go to the gym get fit, and make your life better. The sith code can improve your life.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trying to help yourself to some Internet points!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Why are anti-suicide measures getting to the front page every few hours? Are you guys feeling depressed?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Why do I get the feeling this is the new method of upvote whoring or virtue signalling? My apologies if I'm wrong, but this shows up a lot.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

People focus on altruism in a weird way. Like, are you concerned their egos will trick them into propagating useful and healthy agendas?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no but it's spam at this point.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Honestly who cares. A repost like this got me to call.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

While you were calling a hotline, I was studying the blade

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Smoke some pot. You'll most likely not kill yourself after.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

stop shilling for points, you don't actually care, you're just posting this for fake internet points.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 13

That's like helping the poor for fame, the poor still get helped.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

This the point we've gotten to? Good god this place is full of thirsty people...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Please refer to your own comment history. You are the definition of thirsty.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Lol sounds great...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also cris">t.org">crisischat.org or imalive.org if you'd prefer to chat rather than talk on the phone. You're not alone in this!

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Commenting for future reference. Thank you :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're welcome!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Suicide is good for earth, if someone wants to kill themselves they have every right to do so.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Everyone, watch out! There's a very edgy teenager here, and the slightest kind sentiment could set him off.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Oh fuck, we're too late: he found out about Nietzsche!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I am the abyss.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Where's the hotline that supports suicidal people in achieving their goal... Of committing suicide.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

If I didn't know any better I would think every other person on Imgur was suicidal

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I called a therapist today...baby steps right..?

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 3

That's not a baby step bro, that's an adult step.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Definitely not a baby step. One of the hardest things I've ever done was seek professional help.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You fucking ledgend.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude! Baby steps are still steps! I'm proud of you. Keep this up you are gonna get better soon. :)

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Massive congratulations, this is a great first step! Therapy will absolutely help.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The biggest step for me was admitting it, then finding the therapist was so much easier! You're on the right track!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even if it's the smallest steps in the world, you'll eventually reach your destination

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Therapy saved me and changed my life. Good for you, OP!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Where is the texting version of this? I think I need it tonight.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also crisis text line (text 741741 in the US)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cris">t.org">crisischat.org or imalive.org from @aryasnark comment

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for adding this here!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IF I SEE ONE MORE REPOST OF THIS I'M ENDING IT ALL!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I was suicidal, the last thing I would do is call a suicide hotline. I've been on antidepressants for 5 years, just being honest.

9 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 7

I fear I'd be placed on hold which may speed up the process.... Also I think they need an easier number to dial

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This being the top comment definitely doesn't help either. The hotline also does help direct you to the proper doctors, providers etc.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Truly depressed people no longer care what family thinks, let alone random strangers on a phone. Its a basic feeling of wanting to be wanted

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only reason I'm still here is I sent a text to the wrong person, and they responded to let me know they hate me for what I was doing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I called a hotline once when I was bad and they put me on hold before even talking to me. Fucked up but funny

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's the idea of someone of the other side that will be able to point you in the right direction. The idea that someone cares about you.1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have suffered for years and antidepressants don't do fuck all other than leave you more a vegetable. But it's having some listen.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't need someone to listen, I'm tired of venting and I don't find it constructive personally.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you find constructive? You can probably find a therapist who's down. Friend of mine had plate-smashing sessions. Whatever works.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Id be more pit off by it in case they try to get you institutionalized

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... attempted suicide and couldn't get institutionalized! (2/2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had to before. Hearing another person tell you your life matters is encouraging.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Meh I'd just discard it as someone saying what I want to hear without meaning it and carry on anyways.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But how the hell would they know that? They are a stranger. They can't possibly know you matter, or even that you make the world better.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe. But everyone matters to someone.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Maybe a hotline call would help, maybe it wouldn't, but seeing your comment just helped me more than you will ever know. I screenshot it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck somebody started cutting onions in here

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just get disheartened knowing that's their job, they'll never meet me. I know they care, but a stranger can only do so much.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

:( I'd meet you. And give you a hug. If you were in CT. Which statistically is unlikely. Hang in there!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Can I get a hug? Not in CT, but close (NY)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did a bit of volunteer work talking to people with depression online and more than telling them that they matter or that I care 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I always found it more helpful to have them use their own thoughts and feelings to convince themselves that they matter. It's tough 2/3

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But definitely works better as a long term solution. It takes a lot of time and probing questions that call centers can't always handle 3/3

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Does it get better?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

You have to want it to be better, even if things don't seem better. Your outlook plays a part but I don't doubt there's serious pain.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best of luck, and message me if you ever need to vent.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started medication again after a year trying convince my self I wasn't depressed. I'm feeling quite okay right now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's good. I started lightly taking medication and I do feel better usually. I'm glad you're feeling better.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me, yes. Depressed and suicidal for 10 years, got on meds that work and I see a psychologist once a month.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Honestly? No. Unless you actively try to change things, you'll always be miserable. Hell, I still am.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me it's slowly gotten better after getting on the right meds but it's still a constant battle & worry of losing any progress I've made

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me personally, it hasn't really gotten better. I've just learned how to deal with the general apathy for everything better.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I called one too and I feel the same way every single day. If you could let me know how you deal with it, I could use some advice.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know i'm just a stranger on the internet ..but consider doing some therapy paired with the antidepressants. It'll help change your outlook

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've done the combo on and off all of college. I guess I just haven't met the right therapist.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My community college offers 8 free sessions for all students, it really helped me. Especially because the sessions are with people close 1/2
