This is my God daughter, McKenna; the daughter of my best friend, a brother really, Colby.
I don't want your points
I don't your sympathy
I don't want your money
I'm asking for prayer, meditations, anything I don't care; I'm not going to ask.
Cancer of the spine and brain; it's been an eight months battle with ups and downs and right we're under tyre.
And all I can is sit here and cry like a useless sod!
Colby and his wife are discussing the "DRA" options so I've volunteered to stay by her side.

I'm not sure what else I can say
If there's anything that I could say

I have no children of my own
She's the closest
I can't even imagine what Colby is going through let alone linzye (she has a family history of cancer and has lived through it more than once with her loved ones)

I'm not a zealous man, I have my beliefs but I don't know how much that will even help; I'm not exactly the most pious

Please send your love and hopes and prayers, even your indignation, sorrow, anything to...
I'm not sure
I just want her to live

As a doctor ive seen many children like this. Sometimes nature must have its way. Hyper modern medical technology isnt always good :(

nature sucks

My Prayers are with you

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Sending love and light to all of you. As much as we want them to stay sometimes we must let them go, wishing you the strength to survive it.

Stay strong for your friend and his family. They will need it. I cannot imagine what they are going through.

Love sent from New Zealand ❤

I work in a PICU. It is hell on earth for families, nothing anyone says can make it easier. A DNR is almost certainly the right hard call.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do right by McKenna. Kudos for that.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for doing what you do. I can't handle that.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry to hear that. My family does special prayers for the sick. I would need her full name, DOB, and age. Either way will pray 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 and send positive vibes. Don't worry about saying the right thing just being supportive n being there makes a hue difference

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heartbreaking

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

There really isn't anything else to say, is there?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish I had words, but I have raised 6 children. And I can't imagine. And pray I never know.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Prayers for the little one from Australia.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

May the one who makes such decisions, shine some light on that little one for you

10 years ago | Likes 312 Dislikes 2

Well said. My family sends their prayers to OP

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hey I consider myself an atheist or agnostic or whatever, but those words were beautiful. Best of luck to @OP and that little kid.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Indeed. All the positive energy your way.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everything will be alright.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry this happens to anyone. Sending good thoughts your, hers and her families way

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What and I supposed to do? I don't pray I'm a atheist. I guess I hope for the best?

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 19

Send money

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP didn't just ask for prayers. Asked for good thoughts, words of encouragement, etc.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sympathy.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How about not making this post about yourself.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Didn't do that. Simply asking what op wants me to do it hat would make them feel better.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Good vibes I suppose. Thats what I do.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I like you.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shout into the darkness, hug a tree, who cares. More like you just wanted to tell every1 youre an atheist. Couldve just said something nice.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Actually I never say to anybody I'm a atheist unless they want me to do something religious. Like pray. I did say I hope for the best too OP

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

By your logic, asking someone to pray is just a selfish act indicating their own religious preferences, right?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah i meant DNR, Do Not Resuscitate*; I'm hoping to harness the power of thought; I'm not sure how to edit; thank you all! I'll post update

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She went through her 5th round of chemo; became sick with Rhino flu and started retaining fluids; she received her own stem cell grafts

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Her name is McKenna, she's two years old (she has Rhino flu and had inflammation in the pictures it's starting to subside this morning)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hang in there. Kids are resilient.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Her ventilation machine power was reduced and still in an induced coma like state(?) I'm not sure I've just been talking to her and holding

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry for my poor rendition of events but I'm not the sharpest spoon in the drawer; her "counts" are better

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Colbys parents came, so I can three S and care for my puppy, when my head is clear I'll post update

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im not trying to be an uncaring asshole. but saying you dont want sympathy or points, and posting this. is the definition of hypocricy.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don't think so. Sometimes people just need to be heard. He doesn't want sympathy or points, what he wants is catharsis.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

posting it here is almost the same thing. considering the nature of this board

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why I want to be a pediatric ICU nurse. My thoughts are with you all

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Pediatric Oncology nursing has a high burnout rate because you develop a relationship with the kids before they die.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I went into adult ICU because of horror stories I heard about shaken babies and toddlers with STDs. I would have killed a parent by now.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

God bless you. Adult (medical) ICU is the furthest I could go. I've never had a patient under 20.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was expecting a Gofundme scam, very glad to see that that was not the case. +1

10 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 19

We'll worry about the bills later; it's her we're worried about

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

how can anybody write a bill after that...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think I'd prefer the scam. :(

10 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 5

Not I. Enough dishonesty in the world already. Besides, charity scammers are the worst, preying on people's humanity for easy cash. Sick.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 27

Between scammers and dishonesty, and a child suffering with a potentially terminal illness, to me it's not much of a contest.

Too young to know better, damaged, or on the spectrum?

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Its a survival technique. They found a niche and make do. Thats the "natural order" of things. If this person wants to help and already 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 13

Who hurt you?
