It'd be sad if the other kids in his class were orphans too

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"can we have class outside?"

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That kid is me internally during every company meeting.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kindergarten is weird, I started primary school when I was 4yrs 6months old. Formal Schooling starting at 6? Too late IMO

On my grandfathers death bed he offered to adopt my dad but grandpa was the only father he ever knew and said it wasn't necessary.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm a FC social worker and one of my kids invited his 2nd grade class to his adoption. It was very cool for all involved.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

THIS! Is what imgur needs!

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How many times is this kid going to be adopted? Hope this one sticks!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Insert everybody liked that pic

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're gonna need a buncha booster seats

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The adoption court goes "Nah let's just decapitate the brats and put them on the desk, nobody will notice that."

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What? No.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude looks like a mini John Legend

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He looks bored af

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No masks?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guess he just said “fuck you suckers” to his old friends at the orphanage?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shit good field trip to learn about the system.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there gonna be cake?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Baby John Legend

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd be the kid in the peanut gallery that would not only get tossed from court, but likely end up in contempt as well. I was that kid.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

looks like a suburban county courthouse and the poor boy is being judged by a jury of Karen’s. Shouldn’t have drawn w/chalk on the sidewalk

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 22

He’s on trial for stealing...their hearts

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

His name? John Legend.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, a good learning experience for what the adoption process looks like?

6 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

They’re not going to remember that. They’ll just remember having been in a courtroom

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

The kids in the background look like a Whack a Mole game.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is also a tiny part of the process. With kids this young I think what matters is igniting an interest, more than intellectual rigor tho

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I’m sure the exposure is great for them. Helps with empathy and sympathy to live in circumstances you otherwise wouldn’t experience.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

At that age? Took a 6 year old sister in law to the history museum, art museum, and various other activities. Favorite part: Chuckey Cheese

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cultural learnings will be secondary or worse to "getting to have cake".

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s a moment they can reflect on when their of age for that type of growth in empathy. They’ll realize what they overlooked as a kid.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If they remember the day at all

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I told the judge to hurry it up my adoption (I was 5) cause I wanted to get to my party at McDonald's. I was looking forward to my root beer

6 years ago | Likes 1153 Dislikes 0

OMG. Are your parents still on the market?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the Judge should have adjourned for the day and got a root beer with you. I would have, but I'm not a judge

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I know in Canada judges basically set their own workloads so they could

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then the judge sentences you to a lifetime of happiness

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

CONTEMPT OF COURT *baliff tackles 5 year old*

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

LMAO

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love this so much

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well that is the cutest thing ever.

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

My kid, a baby, cried if anyone else held him at his adoption hearing, including my wife. I gave testimony bouncing him on my knee.

6 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

This needs to be told in a painting Renaissance style

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

You sound awesome

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Kid's awesome. I'm lucky.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That attitude is what makes you awesome

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

McDonald’s has root beer?!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mid 80s it did

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Told my judge (also 5) to keep us with my foster mom until at least Christmas because I wanted a barbie pop up house.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fyi shes still my mom 29 years later.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Aw bless, that's brilliant

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks :) shes raised over 50 kids in her life time

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Glad you weren’t looking forward to Ice cream.

6 years ago | Likes 354 Dislikes 2

They were looking forward to a root beer float but....

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yeah that would have been a disappointment!!

6 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 2

I see you joke. I salute you.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Shouldve went to Stewart's for the floats

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

My judge was a rapist and adopted me to an abusive family. I wanna trade

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pardon my language, but Jeez Louise!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh shit that sucks. Never got on with my adopted mum but wasn't that bad. Sorry dude, sending virtual hugs your way x

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I ended up dumping the adopters and made my own family with gamers and nerds

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yay!!! Go you, friend.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not gonna lie my early 20s were very hard as my adopted parents were boomers and believed i could just make tons of money right away

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

What advice would you give someone considering adoption?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The narrative has to always be: “We chose you”, and never, ever, “someone rejected you”. This is very hard to do.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Don't blame the kid if they don't trust you find the whole thing overwhelming. This is what ruined my relationship with my mum..

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She blamed me for not being "part of the family" and would be verbally abusive when I wasn't the daughter she she wanted. I don't blame her

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The world was a very different place back then. But I have PTSD because of it and barley speak to them now. Adoption can be hard on the kid

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I assume being adopted is hard on all parties, but considering the alternative it’s definitely the best outcome in that situation

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was 35 when my stepdad adopted me. Instead of mcdonald's, I had to go back to work lol

6 years ago | Likes 167 Dislikes 0

Well that’s nice, granted at 35 it’s more of a novelty, but nice

6 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

Depending on the country may be more common than you think. Next of Kin & Inheritance rights for adopted children.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Japan, for example

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Would really not call it a novelty

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

In my eyes I’ve always seen adoption as a transfer of guardianship, a 35 year old is their old guardian unless they have a disability

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*own guardian

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a lot more reasons that that. Next of Kin laws, Inheritance, Power of Attorney... all view adoption as possible requirement.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, I hear you, but it was actually a very meaningful, special experience for both of us

6 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

And that's all that matters my dude!

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Wholesome AF

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Exactly

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And I thought my pops was old to be adopted at 13 lol that's nice man I'm happy for ya

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was 35 when my stepdad adopted me. Instead of mcdonald's, I had to go back to work lol

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I miss when we were young and all in this shit together. When we all gave every other student Valentine’s Day cards. When did we stop?

Puberty is when

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

when the fire nation attacked

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

When corporations stopped paying good $, unions broke up & now parents think only smart kids will get a good paying job! No more fun kids!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wish that your rosy experience was a universal one for kids.

6 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

It's true. I was from a lower middle class family surrounded by wealth and was always an outsider. Even in kindergarten

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There's two people out of the whole class that are my friends today, everyone else could go to hell then and they can go to hell now.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Im not friends with anyone from school and at 28, that still makes me sad :(

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ur not alone!

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Damn u didn’t go to my school. Kids were brutal at like 5

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We stopped when we realized that in our society time is money. Giving everyone valentines cards =/= being paid :(

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I used to give everyone a card and candy. In 4th grade someone stole my bag and took all the candies and ripped the cards. I stopped then.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't let one asshole ruin fun for u & the class? poop happens!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did a 4 month stay in rehab a few years ago... Handed out v-day cards and snickers to all the guys ? you can still do this 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just gotta break away from society's norms 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Adolescence kills the innocence!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You commie

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Once dipshits added the words "Q" and "F" to their vocab. I was the last person to stop celebrating Valentine's in my class. Bastards...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

TIL: Q and F are words?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You're either being intentionally obtuse, or blissfully ignorant, & I'm not sure which is worse.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I resurrected that tradition at uni, one semester. Got hand-decorated cookies for everyone in my night class, including the prof.>>

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Prof decided that class was a 30 minute lecture, sent someone next door to the grocery store for some milk (on her), & we did worksheets>>

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

& ate cookies for the next hour. Class was super fun that night. I need to email her, let her know I made it home...
