Well, he indeed was super!

And a bro.
Kakeukh
Having watched The Wages Of Fear earlier this week I am 99% sure this isn't some guy named Segale. That's Folco Lulli.
Kakeukh
Plus, I thought it was Steven Segale, y'know... Hm. Sorry.

Segale is also an antagonist in Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love.

Isn't this guy a Russian movie star?

A fun story, but im guessing a company founded in 1889, yes 135 years ago, was not hard up on rent nor would have had sympathy from a real estate developer if it missed a lease payment. Here is the link from the wiki citation, an interview from 1993, zero mention of Nintendo being behind on rent. https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19930617&slug=1706910

Nintendo has had tons of ups and downs over the years. If I recall, they went into video games as a hail Mary to save themselves from going under

Rather lack of confirmation!
Caliitali
Probably 90% BS, but Nintendo has struggled many times in the past. Illegal playing cards, house of prostitution, Gameboy Color, they've had some rough times.

That Link is neither confirms or denies anything about the above citation. While Nintendo was established far back the branch they established in america was in fact new and struggling at that time.

That said, this link says otherwise. /a/ns8orzU

Well said. A lot of companies still do this type of thing. Yes, technically they are called the same thing but (and I'm assuming the $ made all goes upstairs somewhere) but they are different. A perfect example of this today is Best Buy in Canada and the US. I use them as a example because I used to work for them, but I would imagine Walmart or McDonald's etc are the same.
DianNaoChong
But they do have a history of naming characters after people who had their back. Kirby was a lawyer that won monumental cases for them, as an example.
vowofloudness
The black and white photo is not Mario Segale, but an actor named Folco Lulli from the 1953 film "The Wages Of Fear". He played "Luigi". https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046268

This calls the veracity of the entire post into question.

The warehouse thing is a well known story, though, "Jumpman" from the Donkey Kong game already existed and had a set look. So the appearance was not based on Segale, just the name

both this movie and its remake Sorcerer are great cinema.
