Soooo.... In order to get a drink, you have to turn the entire contraption around? Then turn it around again to eat your popcorn? 300 ounces of soda + 25 pounds of popcorn = SPILLED ALL OVER THE FUCKING PLACE!

Why is Taylor Swift showing this off?

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because of YOU, the future of this entire universe is in jeopardy

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is an ad and they NEVER have enough supply to meet demand on opening weekends. If they ever properly stocked these or tied them to ticket purchase deals, id have a fantastic collection of popcorn buckets. But I don't even bother because I know they will only have like 20 to sell.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The scarcity is artificial. They stock them that way to convince rubes that they are actually valuable items and not cheap, mass produced, plastic trash. In reality they have warehouses full of these things that end up in a dumpster before too long.

All I can think about is, "how do you clean this thing after greasy popcorn, flavour salt and sugary, acidic soda have been in there?"
I guess I am no fun because I would opt to get a simple tempered glass or steel mixing bowl for the snack and a sturdy Ikea glass tumbler for the beverage every time, instead of even thinking about dealing with cleanup associated with this plastic mold haven and rancid oil odour sponge. No way that plastic is dishwasher-safe either for steam sanitization.

It is just more plastic waste. People aren't using them. They are just buying them without to set it on a shelf or to resell on eBay. A majority of them are just butt ugly and stupid but people will collect any trash these days.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Well, that's elaborate.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That’ll be $80 please

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That covers the popcorn and drink, what about the bucket?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I manage a Marcus Theater and we sold out of those buckets in 3 hours. The three separate kinds of plastic cups sold out by end of night.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

More one time useless plastic garbage. Just what we all need more of...

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a movie theater. That cost $1300 😂

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Taylor Swift's last album was that bad, huh?

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Too bad Toy Story 5 was an utter waste of time. Time to pack it in Pixar, you're done.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I fucked the Dune bucket and I’ll fuck that Buzz Lightyear too or my name isn’t JD Vance!

There’s karmic justice in being the first US administration to immediately lose a war they started and this moron has to go on his book tour to defend losing the war his boss started while everyone blames him for it because they like his boss more.

Those lights would be extremely annoying in the theater on opening night once yu're in the dimmed theater

2 months ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

That was my thought, too. Cell phone lights are bad enough but this thing, nope. Bad bad bad design.

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the same.. however given it's for toy story I'd probably wait for a midweek matinee just before it left theaters.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Aaarrrrrrrr

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just go the next night and then it won't be annoying.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love Taylor Swift.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"Sir, this is a Regal and my name is Georgia." - Georgia probably

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The lights are a bad fucking idea. Have that in a dark theater with some kid playing with it over and over.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Advertising sucks, and you should feel bad.

2 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 5

Also isn't Regal the company shitting out propaganda for the regime?

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Sure, guilty until proven innocent... that's de facto now.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just don't understand the whole "popcorn bucket" thing

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Movie theatres are dying, so they're throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks, and people will go absolutely apeshit over cheap, plastic, overpriced trash if TikTok influencers promote it. People are actually scalping the popcorn buckets now

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Feels like every other movie is doing some commemorative popcorn bucket now after the Dune one.

2 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 4

Even The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act had one of Pomni that sold for $45 and it wasn't even that big.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Movie theaters are desperate to bring audience in and recoup losses. But the movie industry isn't churning out the summer blockbusters it used to. It's mid june and wife and i haven't felt urge to see anything in theaters yet. And you can just stream most movies a week after release anyways (for theater price).

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m just mad I can’t fuck Buzz Lightyear like I could the sand worm.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

You can. But it’ll feel like throwing tic tac down a hallway.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

that's quitter talk

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Major movie industry has been getting less profitable since DVD sales died. The world has changed and cinema has been incredibly slow to adapt. Can you think of any “new ideas” between streaming (which was obviously revolutionary) and now? Yes cinema-specific merch isn’t exactly revolutionary, but it’s a fun little thing that might make a movie a bit more money. Anything that even slightly mitigates the death-spiral if cinema in which only AAA sequels & remakes & ECU are viable is fine by me

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

The mass production of plastic trash to justify the accumulation of wealth is never "fine".

The production of art shouldn't be gated behind the ability to turn a profit. That's a gigantic flaw in society that more people need to get pissed about instead of just accepting.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

You saying “art shouldn’t cost money” and “capitalism bad” doesn’t magically change reality. Major movies DO cost money and are hampered by the boring realities of budgets and accountants… “more people should be mad about this” is such an impotent, nothing comment.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I mean, can you blame them if losers will pay $50 for a special bucket for their 20 cents worth of corn puffs?

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

I mean they're paying for a collector's item, not just the popcorn. The issue would be the upcharge on the popcorn itself as well on top of the exclusive merch label.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They're paying for a collectors item that cost $2 to make. If it were some higher quality item so people can make these into heirlooms then it'd be worth it.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You're not getting high quality collector's items when the point is essentially an item that says 'I was there'. They're not really being made or being sold for the express purpose to be used every weekend as part of a family movie ritual.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I know. I was kidding

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

50 bucks or more?

2 months ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 2

Yes that is the price of the ticket but I don't think you need to go see the movie to walk in and buy one of the buckets

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I laughed..bc it's damn near the truth these days

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I asked my mom as a birthday present (we kinda just request gifts in my family, it makes it easy) to buy me a ticket for the Mandalorian to see with her. We had a beer, watched the movie, and she bought me Jimmy John's after. That was probably 50 bucks on me plus her ticket and beer

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

$49.95 and sold out at some locations!

2 months ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

All locations. But good news, eBay has them for just 3x the MSRP, hundreds of them!

I hate this timeline.

2 months ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

yea it's trash. my sis got into Funko pops, just ones of the anime's she likes. they released a Zoro pop at certain Hot Topic locations, $15 each. we got there at 9am and they opened early so we missed it. when we check eBay to find one for her, $500-800 and those were sold prices...

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, shit.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The world filled with plastic trash, the health of nations going into the gutter, our biosphere in dire straits, oceans on the brink of being too toxic to support life, all so a minority few owning class individuals can make obscene profits which they leverage for political influence to control all of the world's resources that should rightfully belong to all.

It's insane. It's even more so that so few people are pissed about it.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

There is a quarter of a dozen of us!

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think a lot of people are secretly pissed about it but powerless so they gave up to at least try and have a somewhat happy life within their own bubble. The only way to really shake things up is to unite those who are pissed and make them take action. But the only real motivation for someone to actually take that risk and make that effort would be personal profit, so after the revolution a new asshat will be in power. And that is basicly every revolution mankind has had in a nutshell.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The fact people think the only real motivation is personal profit is exactly what is wrong with society. Goddamn we really fucked people up in the head if this is how people think.

And that's not "basically every revolution". That's Capitalist Imperialist propaganda to dissuade people from taking action. Study anarchist history and you'll learn we have the potential for so much more.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have this one, I'm good.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Dude, where'd you get it. I want a popcorn bucket like that.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

From the Bethesda gear store, but it's no longer for sale, I was lucky enough to jump on the pre-order about five minutes before it ended.

I consider that a cheap price from Beth

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the same mini-nuke they had for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Anthology, just with a different insert and no sound chip.

Perfect for a 97 oz diet pepsi

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I think it's a coke and popcorn combination and, if so, I might go to the movies just for it

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've always thought the problem with movie popcorn was that it took too long to get cold, and are you even eating popcorn if it's not soggy from condensation?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fair point

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Buy Flavacol online and you can make your own on the stove real easy. Or, go see a movie. I'm not your mom

So much plastic waste...

2 months ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 4

The metal and acid in the batteries worries me even more. Will be terrible in landfills. Impossible to recycle. What a waste of resources.

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

What?? Acid can be purified and lead can be melted down

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Certainly it would be if people just used them for the move then binned them. These are things people generally keep as souvenirs/decorations, and are priced as such. Like collectible toys sorta. So thankfully It’s less immediately wasteful than a disposable plastic drink cup.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 13

Considering the vast majority of this stuff ends up in a dumpster after production and then the rest finds its way there in little under a year makes these virtually indistinguishable from other plastic waste.

Sure, a handful of diehard fans will probably keep it for a few years but that small handful does not justify the rest. The pricing of them is also not an excuse but a further example of the exploitation of the system to get people to shell out their money for 2$ mass produced garbage.
