I really don't get the fake points or care, Imgur is my escape from all the BS, but honestly it has become a lot like Facebook.

You made me happy!

I like upvotes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why I'm always proud of my posts that get 80 points

See, there's a whole lot of internet strangers who can be indifferent to you as well! (I have trouble seeing the upside)

I'm always in a state of shock when I get upvotes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What? But I'm here to make myself happy.

Orrrr I represents another person that agrees with you in an argument against an ignorant fool. Both are very nice

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They don't

While we are providing our thoughts, I think reposting without indicating that you're doing so is deceitful.

I'm at about a 1 up to 30 downvotes. Muhahahhaha - With facts no less.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stubbed my finger downvoting this so lightning fast

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i got a lot of my points from making people sad..... muhahahaha

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

totally an unpopular opinion on this site...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That reminds me, I should check the status of my reddit karma

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm waiting until imgur upvotes are monetized...

You are right!

I've made at least 40,000 people a little happier. In real life I can barely make myself happy. Also I don't even know 40,000 people.

What about real internet points? Where do I get those?

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Username relevant.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Currently you have only made 641 people happy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those up votes went up quickly in 1 minute.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok pollyanna

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can use them to gauge your humor/opinions against a random, non-representative cross sample of internet users.

Those that data is inherently flawed to the majority of people groups that would be on this site in the first place

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But that would require a baseline to know if you are more or less funny than average

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Such as the average number of points of all Imgurians with x number of posts.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In theory yes but people on this site go bananas for same stale references and jokes

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know how to get downvotes. Getting up votes can be pretty tricky sometimes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really a random cross-section though. Mostly Americans and I'm sure the average age for this site is probably around 20-40.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would have to say imgur as a whole is quite biased though

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

A thousand times, this. It's an open set of people pretending to be a closed community accepting of all, as long as the "rules" are followed

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

or, alternatively, how much you express your emotions and troubles with memes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DING DING DING

Eventually I will become popular enough to become hegemon of the world while my brother fights the alien menace.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a sound approach with the one exception being Fartharder, who shall go down in history as our most beloved/downvoted imgurian.

god bless'm!

There's a sci-fi story, I can't recall the name of, where the world currency is based on your internet popularity.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Meow meow beans?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a Black Mirror episode about it as well.

You have made many, many, many, many people happy!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Not that happy

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Moderately happy

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Area under the curve. If you can make 1,000 people a little happy that is like making a few people really happy.
