The Game of Ur

I've always wanted to play this ancient game ever since I heard about it. It was popular in ancient Mesopotamia about 3-4 thousand years ago among all strata of society.

I decided to make a game board as a Christmas gift for a friend. I really like it. I almost don't want to give it away.

Gaze in wonder at my abysmal dovetails. They're so bad because I used a table saw.

But, pack some sawdust into the gaps and soak it with ca glue, and all's well. Also good for small, pre-existing cracks in the wood.

I used a letter/number burning set to make the fleurette spaces. The number "8" worked pretty well.
