So, I make music. I've been making it for 4 years now. I started with soft electronic music, have recorded two "EP's", one "mixtape", and one "full-length album", none of which were released, because I didn't want to. Why? Because it was only myself figuring out how to do stuff. And don't get me wrong, at the end of this I was pretty sure I'm ready to be among those who build the future of the music.
I started with my dad's shitty laptop and a pair of cheap consumer headphones. Which was enough for the time. I moved on and on, progressing, I've even aquired a small fan base. And then I made a pause, because I wanted to move to the next level. I bought everything for my new studio, headphones, monitors, amps, dacs, keyboards. I learned all the ways to record, mix, and master music.
But then I wanted more. More experimenting, more unique technics. So I found bunch of stuff that was lying around, found some stuff while cleaning my house, bought from thift stores, repaired all of it, and it worked. Finally, a studio of my own. I even learned how to sing.
So my first album, which hopefully is gonna be released, and if not - is still gonna be amazing, is prepared to be recorded. I got an idea, I grabbed all the instruments, all the samples, all the records, all the texts I wrote, and started to construct it. I also work as a designer (I actually do lots of stuff), so I created the perfect cover art. Even my photo artist friend created an epic cover for one of my supposed future singles.
*record scratch* *freeze frame* Yep, that's me. You probably wonder how I got myself into this situation.
I am in front of the mutiple keyboards of my synths and MIDIs, just sitting. It's recording. Recording nothing. Because I don't feel like recording music anymore. I want it, I am ready for it, but something just does not go. Day, after day, after day. Silence. I've lost all fun in creating music. And I don't know how to deal with it.
Thanks for listening Imgur. I don't think anybody cares, but there's nobody else who can hear me out right now. Also, sorry for grammar and stuff.

Sounds like you might be burnt out.

Just take a break, relax, take a deep breath, have some time outside of making music, and come back to it later!
Aypie
Maybe that will help. But, as I said, I made a pause already. Like, almost a year or so.

All you need is a full pound of cocaine

From what I've heard, it's a hell of a drug.

You've worked, learned and enjoyed the journey. You've produced art. That block sounds like fear of what you've created being undervalued.

As long as your livelihood doesn't depend on this, do what you do for the love of it. There's value in your process and your production.
Aypie
I knew someone would say that, but it's not the case. I'm a man of planning myself, so I wasn't expecting anything straight away.

More like: the thought of introducing others into the equation might be what's sucking the fun out of it. I hope you retap your flow soon.
Aypie
You may be right. Time will show.

Sounds like you enjoyed gear/experimenting with equipment more than making music. Have you considered recording/mastering others' music?
Aypie
Yes. But, as it turns out, it's way harder to actually find someone who needs it.
purebordem
Trust me, as a guy with a heavy background in both music and audio, they need it. They are either too cheap or clueless how important it is.
Aypie
No, they need it. But finding them is not an easy task.
purebordem
I find people who need it all the time, but they won't pay and think their EP is awesome when it sounds more like a dumpster fire

I also fear that I would like to change it more artisticaly than technicaly, and client won't approve.
