Taunton State Hospital, Taunton, Massachusetts.
I actually worked here after it was reopened. It was the creepiest experience I've ever had. I only lasted around 6 months and had to leave. I left not only because of the staff but because it was to negative of an energy. The mood and energy was so dim and dark here. It was a horrible experience. There was a heaviness inside. And everyone, staff and patients could feel it.

What do the reopened parts look like?

I'm house sitting alone and it's past midnight so big NOPE for haunted house stories thank you.
BrokenAnimal
Even abandoned and in disrepair, that is really beautiful.
tclothingw
these pictures are beautiful. It looks as if they came out of a scary movie set.
SnapKylePop
Looks like a fixer-upper.
guardianoftwosmallgods
Worked 5 years in psych. That hospital was haunted as fuckkkk
leonth3duke
Apartments I live in were once a hospital that was abandoned in like the 70s.
VillagerJeff
What's it look like after the reopening?
docintraining
Through the building. Most of it is re-opened. Some they are still doing some repairs to continue opening it for treatment.
docintraining
It's still got the original walls, windows, floors. Just basically filled holes with duct tape and stuff. It's horrible. Wind goes right
mascaralvb
I got to be honest, I would absolutely love to work in that kind of environment. Stems from old video games I have fond memories of
LanceHol
My condolences.
wellthisisharderthanithought
I'm in mass and I would drive by that place when my dad would take me to work as a kid I was mortified of that place!!!
docintraining
@wellthisisharderthanithought isn't it!?!? And people don't think it's real!!!
He4rtless
What do you mean reopened? Is it restored? Place looks condemned in more ways than one
76Tromboners
I wonder if it was a mental health hospital. That would be even scarier.
docintraining
It is a psychiatric hospital! It was in the 1800's and still is today! @RushmoreBeekeepingSociety
76Tromboners
That is both interesting and terrifying at the same time

What a beautiful building. I wish people put that much effort into architecture these days

Military rations?
PippilottaLongstocking
I think I remember reading somewhere that Taunton is one of the most haunted towns/cities in Massachusetts.
docintraining
@PippilottaLongstocking it is among the few yes. It's writhing the Bridgewater Triangle. Weird shit happens in that area.
OnlyLikeNiceFunStuff
Where's the creepy stories?!?!
docintraining
@OnlyLikeNiceFunStuff I posted them. Go to my page and you will find them.
pdbravo
I don't know about haunting but I definitely think the cleaner should be sacked
AsksTooManyQuestions
Sorry for no sauce, but I've seen this hospital in haunted places compilations.
ILikeToCommentWithGifs
Wait, it was reopened as a hospital? Or as a "wander around cause this place is haunted" type thing?
docintraining
Reopened as a hospital. Mostly substance abuse treatment which is where I worked. And some department of mental health services.
Nize426
Are the pics from before it was reopened, or was it reopened then abandoned again?
docintraining
@nize426 these were taken prior to reopening. No photos allowed now that it's opened again because of patient confidentiality.
Nize426
I see! Thanks for the info :)

What's the internal temperature of a tuantuan? Luke warm.
Cyanosis1184
Haunted or not that era of architecture is amazing.
skyintheeye
There's a ton of this architecture in MA. State mental facilities all have that beautiful design. Creepy as hell though. Super interesting
AncientThotDeity
Exactly what I was thinking. It's beautiful, it's a shame prolly such awful things happened there and it's in total decay now.
countryg33k
Was gonna say. Could probably turn it into some beauty condos to save the building.
diddleyhole
I have $3.
calpiico
Old buildings like this are more often than not covered in asbestos, this renders them almost impossible to repurpose or even year down.
