Beautiful family

I loved it at first, then I found out the central premise never evolves and I think it would be so much more interesting if they start to learn about each other and it evolves into them using their abilities to keep themselves safe and together.

Sadly, a lot of anime rely on core elements never really changing. It's kind of like how Ash remained the same age throughout Pokemon or how Pikachu oddly would revert to more of a base power level whenever they fought a new foe.

I generally won't bet against Chun Li, but Yor would absolutely make her work for it. Serious "she who screws up first loses" territory.

That is how you raise a proper spy and a hitman.

Looking Witch Hat Atelier right now but Spy X Family is right on my list :)
Snooj
If you appreciate shows that are amazingly written and animated but seem unloved for some reason you can pick up Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Sentenced to be a Hero. On my long list of shows I love they both stand out. Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is also fun but the animation is rote and in S2 every episode is basically the same. Which is fine if you like the chill.
Imustntrunaway
Campfire cooking is very chill, definitely one of that fascinating genre of food centric anime, some of which is peak vibes.

Is there a reason why spys wear suits and assasins wear lingerie?
Snooj
Spies draw more attention dressed in sexy outfits. That's the opposite of what a spy wants. Assassins dress sexy to attract their targets and look like their ulterior motive is being hot. Makes it easier to kill people. Also, Loid would probably look odd in lingerie.
Millstone85
Then again, Loid has mastered the art of disguise practically to the point of shapeshifting. If he wants to look good in lingerie, he will look good in lingerie.
epicfail48
Loid has that lean and mean build, we need to get him in some slutty panties poste-haste

Such a great show. I feel like its one of those ones where its hard to sell to people who arent super into anime (kinda like one punch punch man), but its so good. Also, another massive spy x family dump /gallery/q6nrit8
Imustntrunaway
Anime can be hard to sell, but ultimately it's just another media format. There's a lot of stuff that plays into established tropes, but then you've got stuff like Gundam (War is genuinely hell), Violet Evergarden (Healing is nonlinear and hard), and many more genuinely meaningful stories one can get a lot out of that simply use anime as the medium to tell it through.
Snooj
It's hard to sell a lot of people on Anime because in the US we are not used to mouth flaps, frequent flashbacks, long expositions during battle sequences where all other action magically pauses, casual pedophilia, and overbearing emotional outbursts where character designs change. It goes beyond the subs vs. dubs debate. The entire animated genre is different and takes acclimation and we already think "cartoons are for kids" so there's a pre-hurdle hurdle.
ByThePowerOfSCIENCE
for people who are not into anime it's best to stay away from shounen and even shoujo to a degree
for them I like Erased / Bokumachi, The Tatami Galaxy, most Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai

Seen postings of this show before, but never knew what it was about, but image #1 of this dump inspires me to give it a shot.
Astramancer
It's about Shenanigans. He's a spy who needs a fake family for a mission, she's an assassin who needs a fake family to get her brother off her case, the kid's an orphan who just wants a family. Only the kid knows the other's backstories and thinks it's the coolest thing ever. Shenanigans Ensue.

Spy x Family is a wonderful anime and manga. Wholesome, cute, while still entertaining and engaging. Highly recommend.
FlyingTigerRose
The first time I heard about Spy X Spy they showed a preview where some little girl punched some little dude into the middle of next week. SOLD. Signed up for Hulu based on that alone and had not a single regret.
CuntCrotchula
Lol exactly why i gave it a shot
OriginalSyn
It's a way easier sell to my wife that isn't into anime than "Reborn as a Vending Machine Now I Wander the Dungeon" or "If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student"
JohnThatcher
Unfortunately isekai generally reeks of neck-beard escapism and the second... Well... Let's accept that while anime is so much MORE than certain things, it is still *also* very much certain things and some shows are more blatant about it than others.
And that's just from reading the titles. I haven't looked up the actual shows.
OriginalSyn
Exactly selling these shows is much harder just given their titles, people see them and just discount them outright with no further investigation. Spy x Family carries no baggage in the title, plus "a spy, an assassin, a cute orphaned telepath pretends to be a family and hijinks ensue" isn't that hard of a pitch.
OriginalSyn
Tbf Reborn a Vending Machine is pretty mid, it's sort of a satire, mostly wholesome, but also commits some of the sins of isekai unironically. Meanwhile My Wife Became an Elementary Student is about a man struggling with his grief over the loss of his wife and the most problematic thing about it is the title.
