This is Nikki Yovino. After she falsely accused two SHU football players of rape, they had to give up their football scholarship

She didn't want her prospective boyfriend to find out about her threesome with two SHU football players so she accused them of rape. She goes on trial 6/15/17 in Bridgeport to face a Class A misdemeanor charge (up to 1yr) and a Class D felony charge (up to 5yrs)

FP Edit - I waited a day for more information... at the pre-trial hearing on 6/15, the case is continued on 6/26

Incredible how much a piece of shit can resemble a person.

1 mil words in the English language, & I can't string enough together to say how much I want this bitch to fall face-first into a chain saw.

Destroying lives of innocent people and making real rape victims look like liars...

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

It sucks that folks don't realize that breaking up with someone is not the end of the world when you are young. So they do this crap.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Fuck her! Oh wait, 2 football players already did.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

I hope she gets what she deserves

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I always felt with these situations the false accuser should get the same amount of time as the accused would have gotten.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Cite your sources?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Good.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

hehehehehe, a class D felony....it's funny because she got D...heh heh....I'll see myself out

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

So up to 6 years for potentially ruining the lives of two others, who if convicted, would have easily spent more than double that. each. wut

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Plot twist. Guy she was trying to date would have been into it.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

She'll get probation.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I hope they throw the whole library at all her

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

A buddy of mine got put in a spot like that once. Two girls made up shit about him raping them, ruined his life so badly.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

Sure. Yes, it does happen. And its sad. Anybody's life ruined by false accusation is terrible. False Accusation is a "biggest fear" for many

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like the public need to be kept entirely in the dark over rape allegations these days, trial by mob and media isn't justice.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I wonder ... if she's found guilty, will she be listed on the sex offender registry? If so, at what level?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

The sex offender registry wouldn't have anything to do with this case.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It should. She is someone to fear, because of serious sex crimes she's committed.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's not a sex crime. She lied. Her crime is lying.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

About sex. That's like saying rape is just a crime of lying about consent.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

No, it's like lying about stealing isn't stealing. Or lying about murder isn't murder.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

graduated from that school (a long time ago), still live nearby. been following this for a while, and I'll let you know what happens

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Make another post when you know more

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

absolutely. trial starts tomorrow

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeahhhh CT represent

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I don't get it. Shouldn't she prove the rape? Or at least with forensics shit? When a girl tells someone raped her, the guy goes the jail ?!

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yea... that's why they didn't go to jail, she made it up.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the thing. The police could never come up with any evidence of a crime, so they kept asking questions until she said she made it up

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

A girl from my high school accused 3 black boys of rape because her father was racist and had found out they fucked. Charges were dropped

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

She went all out. Three?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah. They had a consensual foursome. But she first claimed rape, then statutory rape, but only two of the boys were over aged (barely)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That sort of thing has been going on for decades and longer.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but this is my own personal encounter with it. I knew the girl personally, total cunt. She bragged about lying.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'm not belittling it. I'm just saying that white people have been sweeping their problems under a rug via falsely convicting black 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And vise versa stop blaming the white man for blacks downnfalls..dam cry baby u are not only ones and y'alls had it better from others

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Lolllllll

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

men of various crimes for quite a while. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I know. I live in an area where it's far too common

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who gives a shit? Are we just posting random crimes now? No? Oh, I always forget Imgur thinks false rape claims go unpunished all the time

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 21

oh my god yes. Why does imgur have such a hard-on for false rape accusations? It's a crime, rape is worse, end of story.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

I would rather have a dollar for every time a footballer raped someone than a dollar for every false accusation, if you get my drift.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 23

I love to exclude the qualification 'a footballer' from that scenario, and just replace it with 'a man'. Heck, even 'a male Imgur user'.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 9

Yeah, it would still be true. Sigh

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

not defending these horrible actions in any way but i wish ppl cared as much about actual rape as they did about false accusations...

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 23

I think (hope) people do care more. If one person doesn't come forward from fear of not being believed, it just might be this girl's fault

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 8

i mean, it could also be the low conviction rates and in many cultures, the shame associated with it. but i agree this woman is not helping.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I don't know. I was recently harassed people and police over quite a few malicious accusations that aren't true or proven... Yet I'm banned-

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

from going to a place and was threatened by police all because one girls boyfriend didn't want me around and an over reaction. Apparently-

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It takes no evidence to arrest or accuse someone of something when you are a man in a case against a woman. Which is beyond unfair.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think you sorely underestimate how much people care about rape. False accusations mean nothing if people don't care about rape.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Exactly. Rape is both more common *and* worse than false accusations, but Imgur doesn't seem to care as much.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

As someone who was raped and someone in my family who was falsely accused, for our situation the false accusation did far more damage

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But I know its different for every situation, but im just saying you cant say its always worse.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rather 1000 guilty go free than one innocent be convicted.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

They do, rape needs to be stopped, and so do false accusations like this. It's just as bad on both sides. One isn't any worse than the other

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

People do care. When actual rape happens. If you talk about false rape or about minor sexual assault like it is real rape then don't be /

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 12

/surprised when you are not taken seriously.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 10

false accusation stuff is on fp every week even though unreported rape alone eclipse the numbers of false accusations. seems ppl dont care.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

And what a post on Imgur can do about unreported rapes? With false allegations it can at least discourage them. How do you encourage /

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

/reporting rape when in each case the reasons for not doing it are different? And ea

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

/each and every one of "real" rape cases that got on FP that I saw were either lies or wild exaggerations (sexual assault or misdemeanour, /

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

are you actually making the case that talking about rape can not stop rape, but talking about false allegations will?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Making an impression that fake allegations will be taken seriously and will lead to prison sentence will stop a lot of them. With rape it/

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Yeah, if only society would bend over backwards for the victims of rape. Oh wait, IT DOES.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

wat? how so?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

The destruction of justice? You know, "Innocent until proven guilty"? Tossed out. Accusation means you're guilty.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

*blame the public the government procedes as normal also rape is one of the hardest crimes to convict

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Really? I'd like to see that list from "Easiest to hardest to convict".

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do care but I also care about innocent people whose lives are tarnished forever from false rape. Even if the courts find them not guilty-

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

not just for them either but for their family. my step father was falsely accused. because the girl admitted she made it all up i thought .

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that it was all in the past, and didnt put it on my police application. I then got declined at the end of the process for not disclosing it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i didnt even think of it as a thing to disclose, it was 10 years ago and he was innocent.. so not only did it fuck up his and his kids life

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but mine and my moms and my little brother probably got the worst of out of everyone out of all of this. so yeah it does a lot of damage

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i agree this is a problem, we should teach ppl the difference between a suspect and felon is and not be assholes like rapists and this lady.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

-- the public will which means they can/will be harassed, stalked, denied jobs, etc

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Just the comment I was looking for

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Apparently according to Imgur's FP false rape is a bigger epidemic than real and under-reported rapes

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 15

Couldn't imagine being that boyfriend. Like trying to support somebody who been "raped". Then, to find out it was all a lie and she cheated

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At least he found out before he put a ring on it....

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's the thing.. she didn't have a BF. She liked some guy and she cried rape so he wouldn't lose respect for her. Even worse than cheating

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't read the word prospective

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As part of her sentence, she should be registered in the sex crime registry

No.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Lol agreed

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

When this all plays out, I'd be surprised if she wasn't.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm torn about this. I agree she should suffer and be on a list of some sort, but I'm not sure about that one.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 37

Why not? people who get caught soliciting prostitutes get put on it and I feel this is a far worse crime.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Oh really? Well okay then, I'm on board. I thought it was more of a "please be aware, I might not be able to control my urges" type list

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

No...I know a guy who's on the registry for pissing in an alley behind a bar. He gets to be a sex offender the rest of his life for that.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I agree with the sentiment, but literally no one deserves that. Given the choice, I'd rather be executed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

how about you wait for trial first, and only then start thinking about the sentence

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 21

But that's not the good old American way

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

She'll turn on the waterworks, judge will give her community service or some shit and she'll walk... for almost destroying two lives.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

In the bible the law of eye for an eye was the punishment for bearing false witness

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Even before that: The code of Hammurabi (earliest known law) - she would be 'marked' by the cutting of her skin.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

By the Code of Harambe she would be shot.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Would she go door to door to say it? Or, tell any potentials that she made a false accusation? "I am registered in ruing two lives."

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Just send her to Iran for a while.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why? Did she file a false report, or violate another person sexually? What about the next person who files a false report? Do you want a

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 54

Sssh dont disturb a working lynch mob

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 13

Ha, earlier there weren't so many downvotes. More conversation. Now I'm just enjoying the shower of hatred.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

Criminal justice system that is consistent or arbitrary?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 36

Not on either side but out of fairness, sexual assault does include threats or intimidation involving sexual acts. She was knowingly 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Threatening these two lives using a consensual sexual act. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

An interesting, and valid, point. But I don't see a false allegation being successfully prosecuted as a sexual assault.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I don't either realistically, but a case could be made if one was determined enough

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So put everyone who knowingly files a false rape report in a sex crime registry. Boom. Consistent.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 4

They have not committed a sex crime, so, no.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 29

This guy doesn't give a fuck about how the justice system works. They want revenge for any guy who was eventually cleared of charges.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 11

I would argue that having sex with someone and then claiming rape is a sex crime.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Inconsistent and arbitrary? You get put on the list for pissing in an alley behind a bar.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

If you expose yourself in public, that can be treated as a sex offense. Yes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Either you're a troll, you belong on tumblr, or urinals are a rapists playground.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The reason for that is because it just so happens that you piss with the same organ you fuck with.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It's the P.E.N.I.S. part, not the piss part.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

She should be legally obligated to inform any sexual partner that she falsely accused people of rape, prior to sex.

9 years ago | Likes 161 Dislikes 0

Good idea but good luck enforcing it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now be careful here Sir, with good ideas like this you may just accomplish something one day. +1

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

That hasn't occured to me until now. It is surprising reasonably.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This one.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She didn't rape anyone though and the charges were dropped against who she accused. This serves no purpose.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 42

Ruining 2 people's life? Holy shit you are naive

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Attempted crime is still a crime and should be punished; it's not "since you didn't get away with it, nothing happened!"

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Which is why she's potentially facing a five year long prison sentence.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yaaay!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Punished according to the law and not bending it to suit some revenge fantasy of a bunch of neckbeards.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

It's not going to work mate. Online world hates women. Goes insane whenever these rare reports pop up.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Lots of revenge fantasy. Mommy issues and what not.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

My original comment was actually eluding to an advocation of adding a sex registry mandate to false rape sentences.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

So... yes I'd like her to be punished by the law but that the law now changed to add her to the registry.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not really on either side but out of fairness, sexual assault definition does include threats or intimidation involving sexual acts. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

She knowingly threatened their lives by using a consensual sex act 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Boy that is reaching. Really really high up where Mom keeps her special chocolate.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 16

Opinions and strange analogies aside. It's really not that far fetched considering how open ended the legal definition is. Especially 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I whole heartedly agree. Imagine someone accusing you of rape, such a terrible thing that them simply shouting it could destroy your future?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Shorter sentence and a registry or a longer, 20+ year sentence to come out with a clean record seem fair tbh /: The more these women go un

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

-punished the more innocent young men are going to go through trial and branded of something so horrible it's "guilty until proven innocent"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't hate this idea. Falsely accusing a man of rape has the potential to destroy his life, using sex to do it. Isn't that a sex crime?

9 years ago | Likes 280 Dislikes 13

You got it

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 2

The dudes would have been raped in prison fo sho

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

She'll be licking her way through the system

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I imagine it's behavior they're prone to repeat as well, so it all seems to fit.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

Knew a guy who was on house arrest because his wife accused him of rape when he didn't want to sign divorce papers.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Same woman married his best friend afterwards (he warned his friend) and then she tried to file rape when she wanted to divorce him too

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

However he won his court case when she accused him of rape.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On the one hand, I agree she would DESERVE it. I don't know that it would be just, however. A sex offender is a classification used to

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

We simply need a new standard for blatant lies this malicious.. That will be on record and well known for all to remember or understand.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

identify predators of a very specific type. I wouldn't want to dilute the meaning of the label by applying it to crimes like slander.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I wouldn't call it slander if consequences could include incarceration.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

False accusation would be that aspect of the crime, and also not sexual in nature - just mentions sex in the process.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People who pee in public can be registered as sex offenders.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

No, people who whips out their cocks in public can be registered as a sex offender. You see, your pee comes out of your cock.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

So falsely accusing someone of a crime should falsely put someone on a list for a crime that was never committed? Oh boy...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 26

Putting me in jail for a crime I did not commit against my will is rape... According to the more hardcore feminists

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

What?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Sarcasm. Had an argument with a feminist gf awhile back about how looking at a girl without her permission is rape.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think they mean her registry shouldn't be classified as "Rape", more like "False Accusations of a Sex Crime". Like adding a new category

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read industry instead of registry. I was shocked at how many upvotes you had.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

So, now you're not?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I don't see how this is not a sex crime, in fact. Not the kind in which you actually rape someone, but much like molesting.

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 9

You are a very confused individual.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 20

Today I learned that at least 28 people on imgur likens lying to molestation. Sure, much will I read before the eyes fall out, but this?!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

You can get added to the sexual predator list for public urination. Its not all rapists, but the public treats it as such, it's life ruining

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's not because you're urinating that you're put on the list, but because urinating involves us men whipping the cock.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Considering you can get put on that list for public urination, she absolutely belongs on it.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Okay not at all like molesting tho let's be honest. Their should be registry of sorts for this but saying it's the same as molesting someone

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Is just a completely unneeded comparison

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I despise this crime but go the other way - we throw way too many people on that registry already - public urination, paying for sex etc

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Although they were never charged, those 2 young men gave up their football scholarships and transferred out of the school

9 years ago | Likes 2627 Dislikes 19

They can file a civil suit against her for all of that (and they should)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So no harm no foul amirite?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Why isn't she getting charged as bad or worse than them? How'd she get caught btw?

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Because rape is worse than false accusation of rape.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And so you think women who ruin lives, similar to how rape ruins lives, with false accusations of rape shouldn't be punished harshly?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Shouldn't be punished as harshly as actual rapists? Yes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What a cunt. That's so much bad karma.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's not true. One of them was already a former student at the time of the accusations. Telling lies now doesn't make anything better.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no! Two less athletes! How will society survive!?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

If both of these individuals lost scholarships they could prove a financial loss and file tort for slander, couldn't they?

9 years ago | Likes 166 Dislikes 1

Unless she's rich, it probably wouldn't matter. She could never repay them what they lost financially, let alone psychologically.

9 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 3

Her being in debt for the rest of her life to these two guys might send a message to future potential liars.

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 5

except we would never know because... oh look a piece of candy.. anyways.. what was I saying? Oh Terrorists and our water supply?.. what?

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 4

Of course we would know! It'd be all over the new-ohhhhhhhh gotcha. Hahaha +1 for you, good citizen!

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

It would also make it easier for actual rapists to fuck their victims over again due to how hard they are to prosecute.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 11

You're right - we should just let chicks like her ruin lives unchallenged every day. No consequences, no worries. That's justice.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Innocent until proven guilty on both sides. Alleged rapist and alleged false accuser are both innocent until proven guilty.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Who are you kidding. It'll be a miracle if she even actually serves any time.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Pretty white girl syndrome. Much like the teachers that rape their students, the pretty white ones never serve time.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why does every athlete that gets accused of rape seems to have a scholarship lined up? Do this girls headhunt for the top athletes?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shitty. It just seems so simple; don't rape and don't falsely accuse people of rape. Why is this so hard?

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 7

It can all be boiled down to: 'Don't be an asshole' or 'Don't be a bitch' but some people can't figure that out

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

it's always just a fucking witch trial, justice doesn't exist when it comes to rape

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

But on the other side of the spectrum, how does one ever prove that they were raped if they, like, used a condom and such?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heres how: if a woman is being raped she should fight until injured and to injure the rapist. Much harder to refute

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thinking like this is why rapes go so grossly under-reported; people are afraid to speak up about it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Most accusers who pursue legal action, or are involved in a case, are probably telling the truth. Accusations may be more frequent though.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Rape is the ONLY crime considered guilty until proven innocent. Assuming accusations are true is morally repugnant.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 26

*considered guilty by the public the government does not blame the public not the process

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's actually not true. Terrorism is the only crime. The accused can be held indefinitely without any trial.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That's bullshit, and you're absurd if you don't know it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 37

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course some are false accusers. But there is more discussion here about false accusations than about rape, which is far more common

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

Because it is more important not to punish the innocent than it is to punish the guilty. At least it is ought to be.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Even the most disreputable sources put it at most at 13% of all rape accusations. More reputable put it at 4-6. Which is in line with almost

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Every other crime for false reporting.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Not disputing the statistic, but because I'm too lazy to look, does whatever studies found this talk about rape being more underreported?1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 seems like adding that would sorta blure the numbers.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here's some more info if you actually want to learn more: http://ndaa.org/pdf/the_voice_vol_3_no_1_2009.pdf

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Another reason why rape is truly a disgusting crime: it's extremely hard to prove and get a conviction as it is. False accusations help (1)

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

in no way, shape, or form. (2)

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Apparently according to Imgur's FP false rape is a bigger epidemic than real and under-reported rapes

9 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 57

Because sending an actually innocent person to jail and ruining their lives IS worse than not punishing someone guilty. In a perfect world 1

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 16

2 you could only ever punish guilty people but in reality, destroying an innocent persons life is worse than a guilty person going free.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 13

Rape victims are innocent and often their lives are destroyed... think about what you wrote

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Think about what I wrote, I didn't say rape victims aren't innocent, rape is a horrendous crime.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 32

A bigger epidemic than real rape ? I doubt anyone said something this big But it is a plague bc recently ppl use it to not face their errors

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 15

Recently? It's as if we only briefly learned to consider what might really have happened when a white girl cries rape after daddy finds 1/?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

out she slept with a black guy, and then we quickly forgot. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nobody is on the other side in the case of actual rape. Plenty of people like to pretend false accusations effectively don't exist.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 10

"Murder is bad" doesn't make the front page. "11% of death row inmates are innocent" could make the front page.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

But false rape accusations are rarer *and* less severe than actual rape! Imgur doesn't seem to think so. Gee I wonder why...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Have you seen a single person claim that or are you just assuming that amount of discussion = severity?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They're less severe in what way? In a way you just made up, or in some actual data you have? Because every study dealing with false

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

allegations shows the symptoms of false allegations are pretty indistinguishable from the symptoms of rape victimization.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can tell you haven't been raped. I have. I went through years of counseling to be able to sleep at night. Tell me perjury is worse.

Not my kind of thing. I think the poster's point is to watch for double standards. Falsely accusing can ruin a life. The publicity counts.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Well, he basically got away with rape so... it's a bit different.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 6

Well, to be fair, she hasn't been convicted, so if we're actually going along with this "innocent until proven guilty" belief, it shouldn't.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's a difference between convicted and proven guilty. If it's clear that they didn't rape her, she's guilty, even if they don't convict.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

FUCK EVER PERSON THAT AN IMGURIAN THINKS IS GUILTY!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it is proved that she lied, and she did so under oath, then she is guilty. Courts don't always convict the guilty. See Brock Turner.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh. It's almost like men rape women far more than women falsely accuse men of rape or something. Must be a conspiracy.

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 85

How is that relevant? At all? How is the frequency of the crime in any way related to hire much publicity am individual perpetrator gets?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I cannot fucking believe this is getting downvotes.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

But hey, Imgur totally doesn't hate women!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

The whole behavior is muddles with fuzzy lines and both things suck.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Post whatever you want but if you decide to take time to slander this girl as opposed to Brock Turner you're selling something.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 13

Firstly, I don't think you understand what slander means. Secondly, he's been shit on plenty, everyone who does this sort of thing should.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I don't want to publicize that girl. I don't know the damages the accused endure. They both got what a judge decided they deserved.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We did not sit on the jury and have no right to punish either further. But if you think one smear is just than both would be.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as if being accused of rape is equally as bad as being raped. Suuuure, fuzzy lines.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 14

It's not a competition. Both ruin your life.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Triage.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

How is this any less severe? What's important is that we stamp out a culture that treats the idea of rape lightly.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

Yeah I don't think anyone is taking rape as a light crime. That is some serious BS

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Oh come on, repeatedly posting one convicted rapist is in total proportional balance with posting many alleged false accusations, you WHORE.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

What does that have to do how rape is treated in western society? Are you seriously going to argue that rape is treated as a light crime?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Right. That shit Is devastating man. It doesn't just effect the victim either

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right there. Nail on the head. Exactly why we have to take lying about it so seriously, no matter how rarely it actually happens.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

That doesn't necessarily follow, if a crime is incredibly rare in comparison and already has jail time punishment it's maybe not as urgent

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think it might seem pretty urgent to the people whose lives and reputations are being destroyed by said crime. It isn't the same as 1/2
