Why I no longer trust bananas

A couple of weeks ago, I ate what was possibly the last banana I'll ever eat. The first few bites were fine... but then I took a bite that CRUNCHED. It sorta freaked me out, I mean, bananas don't usually crunch, so I spat out the bite and checked out what was going on.

The best I can figure, what I had bitten into was one of these: a dead banana weevil larvae. There was some vomiting , a bit of sobbing, a lot of mouth-cleaning, and needless to say I threw the banana away.

I hope none of you ever have to go through this

These things aren't poisonous or anything, people actually seek out and eat them on purpose all the time, but a surprise in your banana is no fun at all. THIS was what was on the banana peel (sorry it's so small, it's the best picture I could find). You can avoid eating one (or look for one to eat, whatever you're into) by checking the outside of your banana for this. If your banana is browned (like mine was, cause I kept them in the fridge) it can be super difficult to spot, so you might want to check for them when you buy them.

I, sadly, can't look at bananas without getting nauseous anymore :{

Dammit, now another delicious fruit is ruined. Figs were ruined for me first!

I'm trying to type 'bananas', but have to sing Hollaback Girl in order to do so.

As a man, I can confirm that "a surprise in your banana is no fun at all."
